Do have have an Issue with Shades? Report Here!
As you all know, several issues are being reported by end users with Might & Magic VI and Shades of Darkness(amongst others):
- Content being locked, which should now be fixed for almost all users. Ubi is still monitoring the forums to find and fix the remaining cases.
- A number of broken keys (especially in Russia and Poland). This issue has been pinned down and just needs some time to fix properly.
- Pre-order bonuses are not properly unlocked. Under investigation.
- Some users experiencing full Black Screens while running the game, running a video or before starting a battle. So far ubi has not been able to reproduce this issue, using different hardware and settings.
- Some users are also experiencing random or 100% crashes, in different situations. Like above, they could not be reproduced despite running tests on the builds for several hours. Most probably related to the hardware, the drivers, the configurations, etc.
Ubi can only acknowledge all those issues and try to fix them in the near future, though it will not be an easy task.. If it was, it would have been done sooner with H6 Vanilla.
Ubi has asked me to post this here so that the community can help them narrow down those issues (especially the Black Screen and Crashes ones), in order to provide potential fixes. As they cannot reproduce those issues, they would need to find people who can easily reproduce them or experience them on a regular basis. If you can I'd like you to provide the following details:
1. DxDiag report: To generate such a report, go to START, select RUN, type DXDIAG and press ENTER. Finally, save the report with SAVE ALL INFORMATION button.
2. The ErrorReporting folder: This folder is located in "C:\Users\%USER_NAME%\Documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI"
Those details are the only way to understand why those issues happen to such a large number of people and some help finding the cause would be appreciated. Some of you will no doubt think that ubi is asking you to do their job. But the PC hardware can be so different with all those of variables that they really could use some help..

Not that I want to support Ubi blindly, but the fact of the matter is that in order to discover the source of any issue, the more reports from users the better. It makes perfect sense, considering the myriad of PC hardware and software configurations possible. Sure, we can cross our arms and demand Ubi does the job themselves, but it'd a lot more time. Is that smart?
Having said that, I also experience randomly (i.e. hard to reproduce) the blank screen with audio intact when entering a combat. I try pressing all kinds of hot keys, and some do response, but exiting the combat is nevertheless impossible. The only thing I can do is go back to the desktop and kill the game's task. I just generated a full dxdiag (64-bit) and have a synclog.log from the mentioned documents folder. Where should I upload these two text files?

That's more like it Dunno, any file sharing site would do. I usually upload things on speedyshare.

Hi,
I have a problem with the game tend to not launching randomly. I have a feeling that it's connected to Uplay, because I "know" that the game won't launch when there is not a pop-up of uplay in the upper right corner when the background is still black(you know, that about shift+F2). It's polish version. Nevertheless this is my portion of files

I really hope that these problems will be solved soon. I have heroes 6 vanilla, and I'm experiencing black screen issue, usually when the battle starts, but always when I win campaign scenario, and click continue to load next scenario.

Can't Create Custom Heroes, Do I need to Repurchase?
Title, after purchasing all the bonus heroes in the altar of wishes I find the create new hero button grayed out.
Can anyone tell me how long this "feature"/bug has existed for and if their is any fix on the way or I would be better of repurchasing the game?

It would be nice if we could get an update on this AND if that retarded customer service could AT LEAST give an answer to people's ticket ... I dunnno ... something like "We're aware of this issue and we're working on it" rather than ignoring tickets for 10+ days.

Just a quick update on my experience with the black screen (with audio) when entering a battle. One of the suggestions on the official forum was to adjust some settings in the NVidia control panel, which I did, and it seemed to remedy the issue. I've played for some hours now after and no blackness yet.
The NVidia control panel fix I'm referring to is the one where you create a new profile/setting for Heroes VI specifically.

A 'sometimes' work around for the Black Screen. Stumbled on this by accident. Wait for awhile and then press enter or Spacebar. Sometimes this kicks it into gear, and will allow you to continue. Mostly when you load saved games. May have to be very patient. Also for black screens with fights, it sometimes works as well.

SoD - Last Campaign (Necro - Vein)
Hi,
In the last campaign, there is a mission where you have to defent a Fort for 15 turns, my game freezes somewhere in the middle of the fight, everytime, even after restart. I added a screenshot.
Any ideas?!

2) Sometimes the game won't even reach the "black screen" when opening but will appear in task manager will around 120k memory taken and 0% CPU.
3) Random but often freezes during duels. I think it is connected with players b/c with some i always have more freezes or maybe it's accidental. I have to kill the game by task manager.

I've got a really big problem,with the dungeon campaign.
I can't start it,it is unlocked,but when I want to start the first mission the game crashes(it also crashed when it tries to start the intro video)

Today i had a terrible experience with multiplayer. I played duels for a couple of hours and half of them ended with crashes or freeses. They really have to fix it. It makes the game unplayable.
The crashes were rather random (of what i remember):
- when i clicked start in duel game lobby
- when dragons attacked praetorians after being taunted
before the game crashes it usually slows down and then after a couple of seconds it freezes completely.
I tried making print screens of the crashes but it obviously didn't work.

Hey, I did not get my preorder bonus at release but now I realized that I finally got a preorder bonus e-mail a month ago. Problem is now that I do not know how to activate the bonus stuff ingame. I would appreciate someone telling me how to do it.

Ok, starting to irk me. Have yet to finish the Inferno or Stronghold campaigns. I have SoD and original VI. It won't let me start on the first map of either campaign. At all.

Resurrecting the thread because I encountered the very same bug and found a way to bypass it. If it has happened to anyone else perhaps my solution will help them.
As you know in that mission you get plenty of elemental joiners and also champion joiners when you use the horn of legion on the crystals. If you get a big enough army(in my case plenty of water/air/earth elementals, 50 celestials, spiders, blackies, kirins) you can clear all enemies before each turn is over. I suspect that the problem lies in that low end computers get strained with all those summoned stacks and effects but regardless, with this army I managed to breeze through the 15 turns with no problems whatsoever.
