Avatar Reservation (now for real)
Avatar reservation allows a member to lock their avatar so that no other user may select it in their profile. Reserving your avatar is the way to stay unique and to prevent the "choose some other avatar" disputes over your favourite portrait. In order to reserve your avatar, you must have a post count of 50 or higher, which is the same as becoming an Adventuring Hero. When you've met the criteria, the option will appear on your profile page.
Once your avatar is reserved, no other member will be able to register or update their profile with your avatar selected. However, members who are already using the avatar you've just reserved will keep using it, but they will be unable to update their profile unless they choose a different avatar.
You can change your avatar at any time, and you can reserve another avatar, as many times as you want, all fully automatic.
The threads for reserving avatars in the tournament of honor board will remain in power for the next two weeks. If someone reserves an avatar already reserved in the thread, he'll need to pick a different one, if the original owner objects. This is to prevent people from grabbing avatars before the owners have a chance to.

It doesn't work for me.. says in my profile it is reserved, but in practice, it isn't, if that makes sense...

just a question...
shouldn't a reserved avatar be forbidden to others? (when you try to use it, it must not let you, and if you already have it but someone else reserved it, it should automatically change to a default avatar)

How isn't it reserved in practice?
(To disable the reservation, choose a different avatar, any one from the list, that will reset the reserved status)

I tried that, it doesn't disable. On the avatar list, it isn't listed as reserved and can be selected by others... it is also imposible to switch off the reservation (dilly of a pickle, isn't it?)

Cat, I've tried to select your avatar and it didn't let me, says it's reserved. I think that works now. Selecting a different avatar did reset my reserved status.
New registrations now cannot select reserved avatars. I've overlooked that one before 
Please try whatever is not working again and if it doesn't, write down all your steps and the results that you've got, so that I can replicate and fix the error.

Well....
If you go to the avatar list, it says my avatar is used by two, but not reserved (as opposed to Lith's, for instance which reads 'reserved by Lith-Maethor + used by three).
If I go to profile and select another to reset, it just says 'selected avatar reserved' Bizarre! I'll try again later today, but as long as it is actually reserved, and I'm unlikely to want to change it, I'm not too bothered.
The only problem I can see is that as it does not show up on the avatar list, you may get people going 'it says 38toh is reserved, but it isn't' or something, as if it happens to one avatar, it stands to reason it could happen to others and spark a bit of a catfight.

This seems like a good feature.

Whoops, forgot things just don't work that way. I have to click on profile - okay! got it reserved!
I guess this might be a good place for me to post my question: Are we going to switch to circle shaped avatars rather than square ones when Heroes IV comes out?

Cat, I've checked the database, your reservation appears functional. But on the avatar list your avatar does not say reserved for some reason. You might have been unable to pick a different avatar because you've accidentally clicked another reserved avatar.
I've made final modifications to the feature today, and edited the first post in this thread. The feature should now do all it says.

...it's not really a problem, but in case you want to change it, when you have an avatar reserved, and you want to go choose another one, it will continue to say avatar reserved...so I dunno if that means it will automatically reserve your new pic or whatever, but that's what it does
