While I think it would be awesome if Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, it's probably more likely he's Benjen's snow son and Eddard took Jon for his own to protect his brother's head.

I called Robb's death when I was first reading Storm of Swords. When he introduced Jayne Westerling to Catelyn, I thought, "He's so dead." I didn't know how he'd die, but I was sure that he would.

I wonder what Jaime's role will be in the grand scheme of things? He can't be king and he also doesn't want to, so what will his role be when Dany will attack Westeros?

Quote: Dany will attack Westeros
An optimist, I see!
As for Jaime, I don't know. There's not a clear endgame for him. Maybe he'll die in the last book. Maybe Dany's invasion will fail and she'll die, and he'll stay on the Kingsguard. Or maybe he'll end up with Casterly Rock.

So you think Tommen will hang his own mother? I don't think he'd ever do that.

tbh there are many possible valonquars
- Tyrion like Cersei thinks he is.
- Jaime, since his and Tyrion's arcs tend to mirror each other
- Tommen if Myrcella dies AND like Mvass says, "children dying" doesn't encompass all of them.
- Young Griff, if he's actually the son of Aerys Targaryen
- Jon, if he's the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna
- Sandor Clegane, if he's alive and the Champion of the Faith (proverbially killing Cersei if he defeats his reanimated brother's corpse, condemning her)
- Daenerys if "Valonquar" is another mistranslation of sorts (just like how "The Prince That Was Promised" is presumed to be male, while he is most likely a woman (again: Daenerys).
probably others, but i would need to reread the books to be sure.

I was disappointed about what happened to Tyrion in the last book. I thought he was gonna come face to face with Dany and plot together. And Penny... really, Martin?

Was Penny that other dwarf? If so, agree with you guys. Don't like her at all.
When's the next book supposed to be coming out anyway? I'll need to reread some of the parts so I remember what is going on, because right now I don't really recall too much, just random parts of the novels.

My guess is that it's going to take at least 3 more years until the next book will be done.
Penny felt like something from a kiddie feature film about dwarves, not like a character of ASOIAF.

Too many houses for me to go through, but some of my favorite characters in general are Arya, Daenerys, Varys, Stannis (don't ask me why cuz I don't even fully know. He just seems like he's a badass beneath his extremely stiff exterior), and Tyrion.
Also, why are so many people (at least of the ones I've talked to) hating on the fifth book? It has been my favorite so far (third and first are really the only ones that come close). The way Meereen was described was effing poetic. It seemed like he took more time on the settings in general. SPOILER ALso, Jon Snow needed to die. Jus sayin.

Who says he'll certainly die?
The fourth book takes the prize "Worst of them all". Half of it is written from the perspective of Cersei who is probably Martin's weakest character and just repeats repeats "I'm oh so beautiful, I'm surrounded by traitors and idiots, I'll rule Westeros" until you can't take it any more (which happened even before the book in question for me). I can't say that I like the rest of the content either - not because it's mostly from the perspective of the "bad guys" - which could be quite good if done well - but because it's predictable and artificial way too often.

finally managed to finish reading the second part of A Dance With Dragons.
bloody cliffhangers everywhere.
It's nice that a new chapter is released, but I personally won't waste my time on the "appetizers" when I can wait for the main course.
In the meantime Black Company books should keep me busy. if only I could get my hands on the rest of them...

Didn't see that Sansa chapter yet. I only started really enduring Sansa's chapters after she was no longer the useless stupid little girl she was back in King's Landing.
For the rest, yes, 5th book leaves a lot of room for wondering and interpretation, although some things, as someone here already state, might be already predicable, such as the coming of Daenerys with a dragon and defending the North, perhaps.
One thing I'm curious is if Bran will take hold of one of the dragon's mind, given it's told that he would fly. Now that I don't know if just one or three of the dragons will make it to the North, it might happen that only one can get there, go berserk, for any unknown reasons and be calmed by Bran.
I just hope that some key characters will die, so as to make assumptions less obvious.

I gave up on this series a long time ago. 5-7 years between books is just too long. Too much good fantasy out there to waste on an author who can't get snow done. Maybe when (if) they're all done, I'll go back and reread them all.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the TV series catches up with the books, which it almost certainly will do. What then?
