Thank you for an unbiased poll. Most polls like these before were determined to make you vote that the game was bad.

7/10

Could actually have voted 8/10 as well, depending on when you ask me. I just got done dealing with more recording issues with the thing, so I'm a little pissed.

It had good ideas, great battles as well, but some issues with the execution of the whole. Technical issues and whatnot. Too hungry to comment more... but yeah. That's about it.

And thank you for your comment. I myself voted 5/10 because I miss too many of the features that added so much charm to the game. I enjoy H6 from time to time, but I get bored pretty fast, I think it seriously lacks of strategy and variety, despite the fact that there are some features I really like, for instance town conversion or area of controls. In one word I think the game was too simplified overall, making it more of an action game than real strategy. Tell me if I'm wrong but I have the feeling that you just have to rush for crystal mines and forts/castles, have the biggest army and beat'em all... Easy teleportation, no movement points penalty for departure/landing boats, everything centralized under one hero with best (and same!!) combination of skills everytime (!!) drives me nuts. And I pass many that are easily guessable. Beautiful graphics ok... But H6 is out for 2 years now and I still play WoG. I either don't get the game or maybe I'm too old-fashioned.. =)

Voted for 3/10, just because I liked some parts of the storyline. But with many of the features removed (resources, various map objects, non-dynasty weapons, war-machines), simplified (creature pool, town area, skill/magic system) and with few races and creatures it is just not interesting for me to play. To this day I still play HoMM2-5, but I just cannot make myself play HoMM6. I even didn't account for bugs in my vote, because those things are fixable.

1/10.
There's barely anything holding it for me.

I am particularly pissed off about the Necromancy change, because THIS ISN'T NECROMANCY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

The racials (in my poor experience) are very bad for the most part and you rarely have a good opportunity to actually use them, and they don't really make the factions stand out a lot.

H5 Gating > H6 Gating (alright, H6 Gating was KINDA acceptable, but still bad as snow)
H5 Necromancy >>>> H6 Necromancy - who the hell thought that making it a lame Animate Dead spell instead of getting more units should be shot in the head and thrown into a pit.

4 resources? Lame.
5 factions? LAME.
Town building? LAME!

The whole series is getting CASUAL AND GENERIC - simplified, dampened, shallowed, prettier.

I'm not saying that I'm against pretty graphics, but if they're the only good thing about a game there IS something very, very wrong.

All the bugs and other shenanigans due to Ubisoft and the million studios that tried to work on the game don't help it, either.

MAYBE there was something good about H6. But I simply can't see it beyond the massive wall of bugs, reworks, gimmicks and other downright bad quirks, and even if I did it would not save it. (alright, it could be Paul Romero's music, but even that isn't anywhere near the H3 or H4 OSTs)

Where's JVC when you need him?

I voted a 7. It is a good game, though not so good as a Heroes of Might and Magic sequel. Maybe the next game will go back to its roots instead of continuing to dumb down the series.

The skill system and lack of randomization may be good for competitive multiplayer but it is very bad for single player gaming. The game still has a lot of replayability though and is still quite a value for the time you'll invest in the game even if you only play through the campaigns/skirmishes/scenarios only once.

I like that you can make your own heroe to use in each campaign.

7 / 10. Good game with some nice features. Moreover, its original art style is amazing, only "Heroes III" can beat it in some (not all) aspects.

Voted for 8 mainly because it have some new and creative idea, such as the new dungeon, their playstyle is not like any dungeon i've ever seen. Sanctuary and the naga and its playstyle is also another creative idea.

The only major downside is the skill system, imo H5 have the best skill system.

Voted 7/10, and I think it's the fairest rating for this game.

+ Graphic style: I like it, it's full of detail, has a bit darker tone then previous entry, each faction has a unique style and color palette (though some find it exaggerated like with Dungeon). Although gameplay is more important, I think that at least from the visual standpoint the devs have put a lot of work into the game (for example the sheer number of different battlefields is overwhelming, I've never got a feeling that I've seen one type over and over again). IMO this graphic style is the one they should stay with in the next entries.
+ Some good ideas: Sanctuary faction (sth fresh), Skill Tree which I find the best system yet, as it gives you total control of your heroes growth, although it should've used some more work (it's problem is that you will always choose some abilities over the others, but the devs have taken a good path), bonuses artifacts give based on the number of set pieces, Racial Skills, Tears and Blood paths, cooldowns for spells, boss battles (but only those with pre-set armies)
+ Resignation from the Initiative system from Heroes 5.
+ Although it lacks the replayability of previous entries (less factions, small number of custom maps) it still gave me a lot of play hours, more then most games these days.

- Campaigns and plot: let's face it, the vanilla campaign was confusing and total bull. AP and SoD were a tad better.
- Bug-fest. One could wonder how the game would've been received if not the one year plus process of making it playable. Nevertheless, it's one of the most bugged games I have ever played (I've never registered so many crashes in any game in my entire life)
- Conflux. They wanted to create something new, but is Heroes really a game that needs all these unlockable stuff? Not to mention the myriad of problems it caused. Also, maybe I'm oldschool, but I hate it when there is a need for constant online connection.
- Some bad ideas: reduction of resource types, creature pools, Town Portal mechanic.
- Though the game gave me a lot of play hours, it could've given me more if there where more factions, custom maps or at least a RMG.

I've rated the game 7/10, but bear in mind that it's a score for the game as it stands for now. When counting this whole ordeal with patching, SoD release problems, and the fact that there are still many bugs present in the game (with the recent crashing issue) the rating should go down to 6/10...

PS: I forgot to mention one more thing I dislike in H6: town conversions. It made each faction hermetic. What I mean is that you mostly play with the faction specific creature pool. In previous entries there was more diversity, I mixed creatures from various factions. In H6 I practically don't. And as much as the racials is a good idea it also discourages you to mix troops...

I gave it 6 / 10. I respect that they tried some new ideas but it was a bad idea to take out the stuff that really worked in TotE. Like why did the skill system have to change? People had nothing against it in TotE. Good ideas were control zones and creature tiers. The campaign was structured in a very confusing non-linear way but it was much better and more mature than H5 - I now respect Ashan. In the end, the game completly lacks replayability due to the skill system, little choice with the creatures (H4 had mutually exclusive choices, TotE alternate upgrades) and not having an active community. And these are huge fails.

I voted 6/10 for the game now.

Major problem for me is what Galaad said: "I miss too many of the features that added so much charm to the game"
It's exactly this point i miss too something i hardly manage to explain the "aura" of the ancients heroes is gone....

Minor problem is the skill system it needed more work but i think to have the choice is better than random skills like Tote IF the skilltree is well thought out.

5/10.

It is an okay game in itself, the only major problem is the bugfest. However, putting it in Heroes franchise, and it became bad game. Ubi had its own vision of Heroes VI, which I don't like at all.

+ Sanctuary: it is a good faction, with great creatures, philosophy, gameplay. With the lack of nature town, Sanctuary has become my favorite.

+ Blood and Tears path: it is good implementation of advanced class.

+ There are town screens... But the initial decision from Ubi to change town screen with those abhorrent town windows and the low quality of current town screens are major turn off for me (although I still appreciate the fact that there are town screens in the game...).

- The focus on online/multiplayer turns me off since I feel like I am being denied a significant part of the game: Dinasty Weapon, Dynasty Trait...

- Unable to choose starting heroes (only two per factions!) is greatly reduced replaybility.

- Combined with only the first hero will develop Blood/Tears, it effectively kills the game for me. I have to start each game with the same hero(es)!

- Only four resources.

- No randomization on skills.

- Ability to convert town and creature pool: this reduces the army management part of the game (yes, I consider chaining heroes as part of realistic army management and grand strategy in beating my enemies). IIRC, Ubi increased the cost of town conversion so it became a good strategic question: to convert or not? But with creature pool in game, converting towns still the best choice.

- No random map generator.

- Creating custom map is difficult, yes? Since I found almost no custom made map for Heroes VI, which again, reduces replaybility.

Not to hate on people's opinions, but unless the 10/10 voter was a troll, someone out there's got some wicked tastes or just didn't play the previous games.

Sure, you might like it more than I do.
But for me H6 is merely disappointment and hope that future titles, if they're even to come are going to be better than that.

No, its absolute rubbish for multiplayer aswell. I voted 5/10, and with a decent skill system like in H5, more randomness (cant select random starting faction? Cmon!!) and simultaneous turns it would be a 10. I like many of the new features, but its just not heroes anymore with the skill tree. Baaaaaaah, annoyingly frustrating.
