Some artwork is great, not sure if I like the Rakshasa too much, doesn't look wide enough and too pale....but loving the info!
Rakshasa
Mechanic = evade
Whenever they are attacked by a melee or flyer, if there is a free adjacent position on the same line, they will prevent the attack damage and move to that position.
If both positions are free, there is a random chance they will move up or down. They can only Evade once per turn.
Dervish = Range Reflect X ability, which redirects X combat damage from a shooter enemy back to that enemy.
Mercenary Djinn
Has alot of firepower and a low resource cost.
If not played well, can also deal damage to your Hero.
Magic channeling ability. (Unique creature Nur, magic channeling = 3!)
Titan
Shockwave X = new blast ability that can attack empty tiles to deal X damage to all enemy creatures adjacent to that tile.

Titan - the worst.
Wizard Apprentice and Void Tainted Djinn - bad.
Rakshasa Scout - not bad, I just don't like his swords and the background.
Mercenary Djinn - the best of them, but still not good enough.
IMO.
I hoped to see Academy artworks (especially those amazing Djinns!) from the Compendium. No Compendium's Academy - no joy for me.

I think the Titan is the best.
It's similar to the Compendium artwork, and that storm cloud in the background gives the Titan it's colossal nature...
Wondering if Shockwave ability is limited to empty tiles in front of Titan, or ANY empty tile....

Can't agree. Compendium's drawing is more detailed and accurate. Titan's armour is great there, especially the jewels. And the new one's armour just doesn't look like armour at all.

The idea is cool, but the way of its realization... Very poor. Looks like an image from some worthless on-line game.

Mages -> Phased (can't be attacked by creatures, but can't block - mainly used for magic channeling)
Favorite spell -> Academy fortune that can find & use a spell from enemy's LIBRARY! Wow! OMG!

Academy in a nutshell
Rakshasas -> Evade ability: when attacked by melee/flyer, damage is prevented and move to free adjacent position on same line (only if free space) (can evade only once per turn)
Dervish dancers -> Range Reflect X ability: redirect X combat damage from shooter enemy back to it.
Mages -> Phased ability: cannot be attacked by another creature, but they can’t block either (spells & fortunes can affect them). Magic channel. Spell resist (new ability). Can bind & enslave spirits/djinns to their will (but some Djinns not always interested to help).
Nethermancers (branch of mages) -> Void magic use. Milling (can help make opponent’s cards go directly from library to graveyard)
Djinns -> we represent this conflict by balancing the benefits of most Djinns with clear drawbacks. You may find a Djinn with a lot of firepower and a low resource cost, but if not played well, that Djinn can also deal damage to your Hero. The cheaper Djinns aren’t necessarily rush creatures, but they will certainly help you get more magic stats on the board.
Nur -> unique creature Djinn: Magic Channel 3
Gargoyles -> Academy’s tanks: high health points, low attack, magic Resist/magic guard
Constructs -> usually have very specific purposes. Some fight, some are there to boost your spells. They’re very versatile.
Titans -> have Shockwave X (can attack empty tiles to deal X damage to all enemy creatures adjacent to that tile).
Fortunes of Academy
Favorite spell -> Unique fortune. Fetch spells from opponent’s library and play for yourself!
Academy fortunes based on increasing magic level and milling (but not all).
Fortunes help this archetype a lot, but it’s impossible to create a pure fortune milling deck.
Creatures trigger most of the milling effects, so to play this strategy effectively you will need a strong presence on the battleground. We were extra careful with this archetype to ensure that it revolved around creatures, and was not purely taking place in the Nethermancer’s hand.
Counter to milling & graveyard recursion
Each faction has cards that interact with the graveyard now so we decided to offset that new theme with cards that counter graveyard-centered strategy, including milling.

Some of the new Academy cards.
Nothing special, cool nonetheless.
Edit:
And two new heroes, Necropolis one is amazing!
Morgan, Beloved General
"If you play him right, every time you play a creature, he heals himself a bit".
Siham, Spirit Severer
"She can kill weak creatures for free, provided you leveled her right. Access to Dark and Earth magic".
Very interesting, I am looking forward to the Necro hero with these spells and ability.

Hey Poly! Finally a creature card that looks like you: The Taweret Warrior!
Morgan's special seems hectic, play a creature and gain health point...will be difficult to kill it seems...

As far as I know, those specials become available after certain level in some of the stats, at least they've said that that is how it will work for new cycle of heroes for old factions. So I guess he will be doing that after he get few levels in Might/Magic/Destiny or some combination.
It can be pain in the ass, true, but still I don't think it will be something gamebreaking. We will have to see new units before we make the judgment.
And I can see what is the new Poly's favorite unit. ^^

I guess if you're not gonna go spells with an academy hero....then all magic channeling creatures would be a waste...
I feel it dangerous if you have relied on getting to a high stat in magic with creatures channeling, only to be blasted by armageddon/flame and then lose all magic stat points and sitting with high level spells in hand....

Two new Academy heroes. Hakeem is so-so, but I really like Myranda, seems like amazing rusher with her starting stats and special ability! Probably my favorite Academy hero so far.

Oh, come on! How to make people use the new heroes? Give them overpowered schools of magic! Let them all have Fire and Dark, Earth and Dark, Fire and Earth! Let's give one Fire, Dark and Earth!
Inferno new hero - FIRE AND DARK
Academy new hero - EARTH AND DARK
Necropolis new hero - EARTH AND DARK (+ a special that sounds crazy good)
Pretty balanced, as usual.
Are they making older heroes unplayable on purpose?
