Making a Mod: Death Knight Alternative Upgrade

Remember when a while back someone made a mod to replace wights/wraiths with Blood Knights/ Dread Knights (from HoMM 3)?

That was before ToTE, so no alternative upgrade to replace the Banshee was released.

So that's what I am working on; it will consist of modding parameters, abilities and even re texturing.

It will be completed in the near future; remember to leave feedback and suggestions!

Nice man, keep up the good work, i made something like this on my own, but i scraped it, because well even tought Undead knights are my favourite all time creature, i feel like the Wraith kinda fit right into the h5 line up so i changed them back, i just tweaked the Neutral Death Knights a bit made them a little more beefy, but looking forward for your mod

Mine are like this :

Death Knight : ATK : 25 DEf : 27
Health : 120
Speed : 7
Initiative : 11
Damage : 25-35

Abilities : Undead.Large Creature.Large Shield ( obviously it carries enormous shield so i figured makes sense ) . Hexing Attack. Deadly Strike. Armoured(again makes sense) . Death Stare ( obviously again Death/Dread knight inflicts some terror across enemy ranks ) , increased their power/xp ofc and their cost is like 2000-2200 now...

nothing imba, i play a modified H5, i added some extra abilities to some creatures... For example just for the lols, i made Arch devils and Archangels have casting spells - just give them animations for it, Gave Arch Devils - invisibility, but because they lacked an animation for it they now use the animation BEFORE moving it's so cool, i mean DEvils in all inbetween missions have invisibility powers right ?
and the ability to cast empowered implosion, i gave them a pool of 15 mana (but you can only do it with 36 mana , which makes you think of getting refined mana, just making the game more interesting, you know , all sorts of stuff like that, gave Earth Daugthers the ability to cast Cleanse, etc...just to spice things up


ALSO , in your direction, I mean is it somehow possible to make a Unique ability for your Death Knights to fit in the Necro line up, BUT replace the obvious imbalanced Deadly strike(half stack kill) with a Double Damage Deathblow - Irrelevant to Luck ?

I was thinking maybe, remake somehow the Favoured mechanic and put it in the Death Knight , and make it have a % to consider ANY target a favoured in turn scoring a critical hit, but i fear that is beyond my simple editing skills, which are quite limited damn , but it would so cool , what do you think ?

It's good to see someone else is messing around with h5, having fun, good job

I'm actually working on implementing the deathblow from HoMM 3 (chance to deal double damage).

To Fit with the pattern of the Necropolis alternative upgrade lineup, I'll be doing a little bit of re texturing.

Anyways, should come out ~End of the month.

This has already been done.
As far as I remember I played with this mod back then.

Dunno the name of the mod however but I'm pretty sure the units where called: Blood Knight, Dread Knight and Death Knight (ofc with Wight, Wraith and Banshee stats and skills as otherwise they would be overpowered)

good man, i hope somehow that can be done... using maybe critical hit like favoured tagets as i said above, or who knows what else...

Also have any of you guys tried making Wyverns with Raging Blood ? I mean, getting bonuses and stuff, i will try to make it now, but i don't think it will work....

The mod I mean HAS the Banshee replaced, as I said. I still have it in my H5 Mod Folder and its called Necro tier 6 Knights there.
Can't find it here however.

Well, its not that I dont like the idea of H3 Knights abilities, its more about balancing issues. Knights numbers raised by Necromancy with death blow ability is just overkill

Well , not really considering the sylvan army has pretty much 50% crit all the time combined with luck = 400% normal damage, so i don't think it will be overkill just for one creature , and ofc Death Knights, will have stats similiar to paladins or rakashas, i guess, so i really hope this can be isolated for one creature, altough im quite clueless, how it can be done ...

Like Undead_King_ Said, there are imbalances everywhere: Look at paladins and arcane archers.

And don't worry anyway: If I end up implementing deathblow, I'll make sure to nerf their other stats and do whatever it takes to get a decent balance.

with H3 stats they won't be that powerful. 18 in attack and 15 - 30 damage is low.

But you're forgetting that in heroes 5, you can use necromancy to bring back any tier creature. I won't be nerfing too much (if at all), just enough to balance deathblow (if implemented)

necromancy to raise tiers 6 with poor stats? paladins are much stronger.

I agree, Paladins are much stronger, but you get more growth/numbers with death knights/ wraiths. I'll hopefully be releasing patches and such based on feedback from the modding community to fix balance or add any features demanded by the community.

yes, and jousting, incorporal and 75% magicproof too, with ini 17 and speed 12... oh and unlimited retaliations would come in handy too

Btw just because Pallys and AAs are overpowered doesn't mean that Deathblow on huge number Knights would not be overpowered.
The stats (and abilities) of Wights, Wraiths and Banshees are good as they are. In there numbers they are extremely hard hitters with top (or next to top) Att and Def ratings and huge Damage.

But hey, its your mod and you can do whatever you want. I just wanted to point out that the actual stats of the units you wanna replace + deathblow would be too much. But if you are going to tweak the stats as you said it shouldn't be much of an issue. Just be sure to lower their damage... 25-30 is already very high even without deathblow

Though deathblow may not come in the first release. End of October will come a stable beta, quickly followed by a final version with better textures, better balancing, Incorporated feedback from the community, and new skills and abilities.
