[HotA] Community based promotion of HotA [workshop]
The general idea of this thread is to discuss and share feedback with the intention of promoting Horn of the Abyss by a community based effort. If you want to e.g. promote your own YouTube channel in the process then this should be completely fine, too. The shape of the promotion is up to you whether it is video/text or something else, of course.
Note: I didn't want to flood the official thread therefore I made this thread instead which is dedicated to this general subject.

I'm in the process of making a teaser HotA myself, atm.
-link removed (outdated), though not the actual video with its comments.
RC2V2.1 is ready.
-fix wording
-less cross dissolve applied and generally a shorter duration of it when used
BTW: You cannot replace an already uploaded YouTube video, so I'll remove the links to old revision when appropriate, although I'll leave the actual videos up for the sake of any posted comments.

When you finish, hippox89, we can send this teaser to different reviewers, and see what they say.

Sure, that seems like a good idea, heroes_fanboy. Well, if there's no better alternative trailer available, that is, of course. We could shoot a mail/something to TB/others and include the trailer.

Good job!
This mod deserves more attention and promotion.
Who knows, maybe it will grow into something bigger then a mod, I don't suppose Ubi will pay any attention to it (I hope not, they are not trustworthy), but maybe HotA crew will receive some serious feedback like a sponsor or sth (don't know if they want it though). There are examples of unofficial mods becoming official...

Yeah, like the unofficial 'The Forgotten Empires' expansion for Age for Empires 2. Microsoft striped out LAN to monetize the game, though, so I didn't buy it after the mod went official. I think maybe we should be happy about Ubisoft not being interested in making some kind of HD edition of HMM3.
Also, mods and money probably don't go well hand in hand, whether by donating or other means. Anybody have an example of a mod team taking donations?

HotA trailer, final and public
At last the final version is now out and has gone public on YouTube!
Thanks for all the feedback provided during the making of the trailer.

@Stevie
If by 'sponsored' is meant 'getting noticed for employment opportunities' then I understand. I hope they'll get some notice.
Anyhow, it's my pressure to give HotA a little publicity (hopefully).

Do you have their approval on it though?

Well, I don't really need their approval, Stevie. It's a fan made trailer, and the title and description clearly states it as such. I don't see why they should mind it, though.

If I recall, they don't really mind popularizing or using their mod as long as you won't take any benefits from it (like earning money from selling it). It would be nice if they got some profits from it if you ask me, I mean all those thx!-es from forum users are nice, but those guys should really $profit$ from their hard work...

They can't get money from the MOD. But I'm sure they knew that when they started working on it.

Thanks = profit, no? Besides, they hone their talents in the making of HotA. It's highly likely that this project is also a personal hobby/passion for them, too. I agree with Storm-Giant on what he said, too.

Yeah, I know they can't make money from a mod. By profit I don't literally mean money. I was thinking more of sth like a job, or approval from the games creators (hope they won't sue them though ) etc.
And seriously, not many guys finish their work with experience in mind. Usually, from what I've seen with programmers (I have a couple of programmer friends) that do sth for fun not work, they experiment a bit making some stuff and that's that, not actually finishing a game/program as a whole. But it's a matter of personal approach. It really shows that HotA guys are serious, when they make sth, they see it to the end, and even polish their work afterwards by releasing patches... that can only testify to their solidity.

Sweet teaser hippox!
Not knowing how the YT search algorithm works:
Couldn't it be better to add "Heroes of Might and Magic II" or "Heroes 3" to the title such that the video can be found by people who have never heard about HotA?

I agree, but if we want to exploit YT search algorithm, we'd have to write all propperly

Apart from video reviews' makers, we can also approach those who simply write reviews
I guess it might be a good idea to look which reviews of HoMM III are the most popular on the net, and then inform their creators about HotA. And I mean not only reviews in English.
