The thing is, if you don't get Circle of Nine in hand (for Hakeem or OTK) then you could be on the back foot...
For Hakeem (std), is it not a MUST have card in hand?

agreed deck, if you dont get C9 with Hak std, you are not really on back foot, as all other cards can be used to boost magic - in fact in some of my games i have these C9 cards as dead cards.

Okay so this weekly is Academy.
Why can't I use broken bridge or campfire in the deck?
The rules say "can use only cards from your faction (academy) and neutral cards".
They are neutral cards....
EDIT: okay, so you can only use Academy cards for Creatures AND fortunes....but events and spells is anything.
Seems like Gazal HotV might be favorites here?

People will most likely play Gazal Hotv, so I suggest playing a 6/4/1 Gazal LoS wizard beastman combo with 4 ward against darkness
EDIT: so jp open today; I'm gonna give it a try, Ithink I'm going with Acamas; i am preparing myself to get really annoyed
2nd EDIT: well, 15 wins 5 losses, 2nd place in jp right now, I'm gonna stop here for today, I'll check the standings tomorrow morning to see if I need to play more; Acamas didn't dissapoint overall I would say.

They should soon have a weekly of Standard Haven matches only
Nice one Watcher, are you using Might of the Tribe in your deck.
I had it in but did not seem that efficient....so I took it out and added extra sac altar and bridges.

Thx DD,deck is posted on mmdocking, I have 11 fortunes and 39 creatures; the fortunes are 3 might of the tribe, 3 sacrificial altars, 3 surprise attack and 2 broken bridges.

Oh yes, you love open still....
But I am not convinced about Might of the Tribe, but maybe for Standard, not sure.
In any deck that goes to 3 Fortune, I always put in some campfires.

campfire is a really good card, is just that I have no room for it; in regards to MotT, it wins matches that are otherwise lost, most of the times they prove useful, even if needed to kill an abysall lord.

You always have room for 4 extra campfires, unless you start with 1 fortune. Whether you draw a campfire or another card is the same, except you also get an extra resource. The only inconvenience could be in the first 1-2 turns. Simply fantastic for some decks

I'm around. Just not myself these days. Problems finally pilled up to the point of overload and I'm just waiting for my doom to come. I'll probably be here some 2-3 weeks more, then, dunno.
Not going to exams, I snowed up school beyond repair.
Also I'm not playing DoC that much anymore, just occasionally. I still like the game tho.

@Elvin - you do realize that Acamas starts with 1 fortune right?
50 cards is a limited number - u have to cut your losses somewhere, extra resources + draw a crad is nice but this deck specifically manages fine without and dominates through raw creature power + fortunes that deal damage or eliminate cards.
So today I received an official answer regarding the posibility of future factions in DoC on one of my threads on the official forums from svilleneuve (the game designer) who says that for thye next 2 years at least, which is like saying never, there will be no more new factions.
For me it's a really really bad direction, I mean sure the 6 factions will get more and more cards; but I find that less and less appealing since only a very few will replace existing ones in decks, but the gameplay won't change much; while new factions could have introduced whole new strategies, whole new flavours, different mindset when building decks around the specifics of the new faction, and far more diversity.
Personally I think at most my interest for the game will remain for a maximum of 2 expansions, afterwards I see no point in continuing; all they do recently is come up with modes with less cards than there are already; and with no new factions things will continue to decrease in diversity.
Anyway I know most of you and most likely the community don't see things my way but this is just how I feel on this matter; pretty sure I will be an old man and still there won't be a 9 faction or more M&M game.

@watcher... no i think you pretty much hit it on the head - new factions can only benefit the game, create new flavour for new and old players - if they do not release new factions - the 2500 players that are now left, will diminish considerably

As a M&M fan, i was really hopeful when MMDoC started. Hopeful that we will finally get a MM Game that can (eventually) house all 9 main Ashan factions.
My line of thinking was - if they don't manage to do it in a simple card game, they will never do it in any other more robust games.
This news saddens me a lot. It also pains my collector side, as this means no new artwork that deals with final 3 factions.
From a card player perspective developer's reasoning can be somewhat understandable, but as a M&M fan this probably is the biggest morale detriment so far since the game's beginning. In the end, there probably is more card game players in the game than M&M fans so i guess that argument goes their way.
Ugh, i already feel much less inclined to play the game .

you know the more i think about them not releasing new factions the more pissed off i get...
I mean the mechanics behind the other factions have already been explored in both MM5, MM6, heroes online
Perhaps it has something to do with the timeline but REALLY...

Well, when I first read the reply from the game designer I was almost about to go on and do one of my few rage posts, but then I stopped and figured it would solve nothing; so I just said thank you for answering on this matter and keep up the good work; just because otherwise I would have been just another rager on the official forums, with whom Ubi has grown accostumed by now.
What I really wanted to say was:
WHY not? What could be possibly be undesired about the elves, dark elves and dwarves factions? Who in their right minds when making a universe with all the cliche fantasy aspects doesn't include some of the popular factions (at least the 2 elves ones) in the game? Why do you think anyone would prefer more crusader cards or more ghouls to Elven Archers, Blood Furies, Black Dragons, Unicorns, Druids, Hydras, Valkyries, some berserker dwarf unit etc. ? Who wouldn't think it's a good idea to have more diverse options in picking a fav race/hero/ deck type; who wouldn't like the diversity of opponents u would face, I mean hell I would play Dungeon even if they would suck more then necro does now, who wouldn't like new faction general lines like the guerilla hit and run or kill from afar tactics of Sylvan or also the true might of nature that treants, druids etc would bring upon their foes? Who wouldn't like the stealth, assassination, deceive flavours of Dungeon along with a monstruos spell ward Black Dragon? Who wouldn't try at least to play the dwarves and their allies like Valkyries, Feral Bears, Lava Giants, Thunder Giants, so they could test their resilience in battle?
I would have more to say but I'll stop here because I'm hurting myself right now by thinking too much on this subject.

As I see it, there's one huuuge problem with new factions: they'd need to have just as many cards as the others. As time goes on, this amount only increases.. they'd need to devote a full expansion to 1 faction only, even more so than in VR. Imagine player reactions when their factions get exactly squat... New factions can only happen if Ubi devotes a huge amount of money to DoC, increasing both budget and team size. Read:never.

This brings to thought how strange Ubi's choice in factions is.
They seam to have some kind of Necro/Haven Fetish due to these factions beeing the most common ones in their games (and Necro is the only one that is in all games)
But sadly these are also their most boaring factions aswell. With the only exceptio of Sylvan, every other faction has more story, art style and/or character potential.
On one side I do understand that their are not many Dwarf fans (unlike me, I love this faction). But on the other hand Academy, Stronghold and Sanctuary are those, that rise above the standard fantasy thing and could be interesting to explore more. Inferno and Dungeon are as common as it can get in designe, but their setting atleast gives them some kind of an interesting shift.
You could say that Necro has a nice shift of it's own by beeing more of an Order loving Cult rather then some powerhungry maniacs. But to be honest, this twist might worked with Dungeon and Stronghold, both beeing the mistreated children that want to be left alone, but making hords of undead more "gray" by making them wave signs "Bring balanc to the world" does not.
