guess I was wrong. not Facebook but Youtube was banned.

Yeah, all Turks with minimum computer know-how learned how to change their DNS for years by now. What's interesting is Twitter can't be reached even if you change your DNS (not Google DNS, it's not the only one) while Youtube is fixed.

That's because they blocked the Twitter's IP now. You need to route to it to bypass it.
Proxy up man
Or just tor and be done with it

Youtube ban was right after they leaked a conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Defence, some high level councilor from MIT (Turkish CIA) talking about Syria and one of them says something like "Well, I'll send 7-8 men over the border and they'll fire a few rockets over some empty territory here, if necessary."
The government declared they see this as a counter-intelligence level leak and they consider it treason and an act of war.

I don't use Twitter, I have an account but I use it just to open up some Twitter links on iPad every once in a while. I just checked it out of curiosity and didn't tinker any further.
