First thought on Best H4 creature...
OK, you have the game. You've been trying all the different towns. The game crashes so you have plenty of time to think on what the best new creature is, so which is your favorite?
To me it looks like ranged creatures are most important, and I really like the way the Cyclops kicks seriuos butt. The area attack is great and devastates the opposition. But be careful if there are wandering cyclopses around, a group of 10 cyclopses can devastate your army.

vamps rule
ranged are ok, but can be reached fast (2-3 turns) and also there is a ranged retaliation now. Vamps just won't die unless you fight only undead or mechanical creatures. And they are easy to get.

Yes vampires and cyclops are 2 very good creatures, but the vampires win that fight for 3 reasons:
1. They have 13 movement so they attack and block the cyclops latest at round 2.
2. They steal life.
3. Grandmaster necromancy brings back about 2 vampires per fight so they will be a great number.
As for best creature.. this is always a stupid question, but since someone asked I have to say I like these 2.
1. Vampires.
2. Genies.

vampires seem to kill everthing with there fast life stealing attack. Even in tiny numbers they are impressive. 1 vampire can do quite a bit of damage on its own, and in a huge group they take out everthing with no casulties. In the campaign im doing my necro is going about with 32 vampires and they just cant be beaten.

I haven't experienced every monster, but as a life town player (for my first game), I like the pikemen. No, they're not the best by any means. They're very easy to kill. But that "ranged" melee attack is sweet! Sure, there are other unretaliating attackers (vamps are one, aren't they?), but still, they are fun. Even if you've surrounded the enemy, a pikeman can strike THROUGH your troops 
ah well, back to "work"

for seiging a castle it either has to be any kind of ranged attacker or devils becuz they can teleport through the walls. but i think that efreets are very good with the fire shield and they always seem so hard ti kill

favourite creature?
Got to be genies for me, Damaging ranged attack through Ice storm, and the ability to illusion troops into being. hell I have had 40 odd 4th level creatures through genies, and they can recruit anything on the battle.

vampires are cool. but I like the Devils - being able to go anywere on tre battlefield and the ice demon summoning... with ... let's say 10 Devils... you kinda' have 2 in 1 units and the ice demon with the freezing abillity is worth it.

i must admit i have a soft spot for the Magi.
The spells are very good and do better damage in greater numbers.
I also love the animation when he casts a spell

I think Genies are one of the most useful creatures. Their abilities to create illusions or to cast Ice Bolt make the the logical choice for 3rd lvl Order unit despite Nagas and their No Retaliation Attack

My favorite creature - Bone Dragon, because their Fear, Skeletal abilitys. Add "Vampiric touch" and you have the most powerful creature in the game !!!

i like the WE a lot, they seem to have higher growth than the genies (i know the chart says 6, but in the creature portal i think it's more like 8), strong ice bolt, quicksand, slow, all great spells, plus the are immune to a lot of things (immune to almost all of order). also not bad melee fighters, with a reasonable defence and the capability to keep casting spells (the major advantage for spellcasters with the no retal.)

Black dragons- but their growth is only one per-week, Fairy dr.- I love to cast lightning with them,
Medusas- stone gaze is good+ unlimited shots,
Vampires- life draining and cute.

wow i just though of something take the devil and soummon like 10 ice demons send the demons out and have them freeze evry1 then while there doing that make the devils summon more once there froze have the devils teleport around and whip some frozen butt

the devils can only summon the demons once, unless you cast mana flare in combination with an artifact (forgot which one)
