I always thought that, one day, a successor of a game would take the Heroes franchise
Well...this seems to be it for Heroes.
Now, Pathfinder-Kingmaker will be our sole hope for a reboot of a long dead franchise by not just one developer but, two developers this time around.
Opening a new Forum thread for this site's members about this new certainty of a mix up game of both adventure RPG and Strategy war gaming should be strongly recommended.
Merging both Heroes VII forums threads into a sole legacy thread would certainly make the space for the Pathfinder-Kingmaker forum.
What do you think people?

Greetings to all,
Being a veteran Heroes player – having played all games introduced since Heroes 2, I only recently bought Heroes 7, to continue my endeavor into the Heroes world.
After learning the news for the ubi yet another decision to stop supporting Heroes 7
I propose that all still active players should think and decide about the future of the Game.
In my view is very unproductive to wait another 2-3 years for ubi or a new company to assign the project of H8 to new developers’ team only to see our hopes down the drain again. The solution is not in adding fancy staff on the screen with high resolutions and making a non sense story for the players to follow.
Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel each time, the game should return to its original values, this is back to Heroes III and continue from there, not with fancy 3d graphics that slow down the game terribly, but with the simpler 2d maps with HD graphics and all that things we loved about this game.
Players should organize and create a leading committee that will be able to keep supporting the game, design great maps, mod the game and develop it with an open source scheme in mind.
Then we as loyal fans should pay a small yearly subscription to keep the game running and offering new maps, campaigns, skills etc.
Ps Great thanks to HOTA members and Heroes HD game launcher that I am still able to play Heroes III

Yes, that's the thing. Such proposals are ignored, simply because of the different aesthetics. There are a number of good, modern 2D games that are quite popular. But as it stands, Heroes VI (and VII, too) are more oriented to acquire new players than keep the old ones, with all this 3D business.
Yet in the end, they have neither side to back them up, and it doesn't have much to do with the visuals as it has with the gameplay.

I disagree, you can make stunning 3D Heroes game as we are not living like 20 years ago....But i hope UBI will sell the rights for proper dev team, who is willing to sacrafice the time, a higher budget, and an excellent understanding for this project. We dont need so lame devs, like Black Hole and Limbic were. Nival did the job very good, but they have been choosen not the best graphic style. I would like to see a heroes game, with good mechanics and stunning graphic, than an old-school 2D game. Time to go forward with ages, and technology.

I don't know why people have this misconception that 2D means prehistoric age. You have stunning looking 2D games getting out nowadays and with overwhelming good reception, Like Ori and the Blind Forest or Samorost 3 for example. If a full 2D HoMM game was to be made by its original developers, all 3D fans would be surprised by how good it would look.
On a side note, I also never understood what's the point in spending tons of $$$ for extra detailed units when the zoom-out view of battlefield shows you a bunch of pixels.

I think a concept of a isometric 2D enigne like Heroes 4 on the maps (but in a more darker style a H3 was) could be really good. Save 3D to the town screens again or the combat maps and characters. Maps need an isometric 2d-3D graphic though!

And i think in H8 they need to return heroes on combat maps! It was a good thing but the developers and publishers were bankrupted so they didn't have the enough money and time at Heroes 4 in 2002 to polish this idea greatly and balance it enough to be as good as can be.

come on man seriously, for sure hope springs eternal if you are Andy Dufresne but not for erwin and his Heroes 8 lol
hell we still have yet to get authentic Heroes 6 (arguably even 5) lol

The article says it's RTS and AAA, so even if it was Heroes (AAA?) it wouldn't be Heroes (RTS).
It will be a Settlers or Anno title, most likely, but might as well be Champions of Anteria 2.

That or Erwan decided that the other executives were stupid to hold him back and that he'll show us how a true heroes is made - in RTS fashion as he always intended!

In the articles its not mentioned as RTS just in the headline if i saw well. May be the article writer had a mistake. Strategy just they said.
