Who even said that we need mounted cyclops as a hero, it could be an actual champion unit choice!
Geez, a huge Cyclop riding on a even bigger Olyphant. Now that would be freaking sweet.

Do you know what really grinds my gears? It's BS that Stronghold heroes could use light magic spells like Heal on their army in H6. They're half demon! At the very best spells like heal should do nothing. To top it off if you use heal against enemy Stronghold creatures then it hurt them. No consistency.
They're not meant to be the best spellcasters so I reckon give them limited prime magic, and don't give them light magic at all. What they should have is more earth and air spells. Mother earth and Father sky and all that. That would make the most sense to me. Probably not in the right thread but there it is. Rant completed

Yes they are half demon, but also half human, so that's why they got both Light and dark. On the other hand they aren't creations of gods, and something alien to the world. That is why they do not have access to prime.
But that was just H6. H5 did them a lot better. Hope they will be more on that line in H7

This post by Marzhin from January 20 should make everyone hopeful.
Actually the H7 Stronghold has almost nothing in common with its H6 counterpart. It is also totally awesome.
But I won't say anything more about that particular topic

The steppe orcs and the Pao Islands orcs were nothing alike; I'd certainly hope the Sahaar orcs were distinct as well.

I have this feeling that they could be planning an homage to fortress from H3 through the sahaar orcs, something like this:
Core
1. Gnoll
2. Harpy
3. Orc
Elite
1. Basilisk rider
2. Centaur
3. Wyvern (perhaps with shaman rider?)
Champion
1. Cyklops (or something new, with cyklops as siege)
2. Behemoths

I expect to see a fresh twist in Stronghold's lineup. Few old-new units and new roles for our favorites.
Desert Stronghold
Strengths:
Good stats (high attack and hp).
Good morale.
Weakness:
Only 1 (possibly 2) ranged creatures.
CORE
Goblin Jester -> Goblin Quack
Role: Support
Description: If you're week and cowardly and want to survive in a society praising only might there is only one way to survive. Be useful. Make fun and don't pose a threat. Goblin Jesters mimic wizards and practice basic magic. Sometimes called Shamans, Goblin Quacks know how to use simple magic tricks to support their allies.
Abilities: Upgrade: Half-Blood Luck – increase luck of friendly creature.
Gnoll -> Gnoll Raider
Role: Damage
Description: Once, gladiators on sky cities' arenas, now free people roaming deserts and hunting down caravans. Tradesmen of Seven Cities have no nightmares but one, the one full of gnoll yelp.
Abilities: Yelp – activated ability. Target enemy unit to decrease its morale. Upgrade: Pack - Extra 20% damage if adjacent to another friendly unit.
Harpy -> Harpy Hag
Role: Damage
Description: Harpies were one of the most beautiful beastmen created by wizards. Only mermaids could compete with them in beauty, but everything have changed when beastmen rebellion started. Free harpies from Sahara Desert disfigure themselves as a sign of contempt and hatred towards wizards deeds. Now, they are one of the most horrifying living creatures in Ashan.
Abilities: - Harpy: NO STRIKE & RETURN. Hatred towards Academy units. Upgrade: Death from above (no idea for better name) – Harpy Hag can catch 1 friendly 1 square unit and move it over obstacles (rocks, water, even city walls).
ELITE
Lizard Rider -> Basilisk Rider
Role: Damage
Description: Humans tamed fierce wolves and made them into obedient dogs. Orcs tamed dangerous desert lizards and made them into petrifying Basilisks.
Abilities: Leap. Upgrade: 25% to paralyze enemy for 2 turns.
Crusher -> Berserker
Role: Damage
Description: Some of the Orcs who decide to loose control over their bodies and become avatars of revenge during the battle are known as Crushers. Those who were consumed by it are known as Berserkers - ultimate warriors.
Abilities: Extremely good stats. Player has no control over unit. Upgrade: No retaliation. Mind control immunity.
Centaur -> Centaur Skirmisher
Role: Ranged Damage
Description: Closest allies of Orcs... No explanation needed.
Abilities: No melee penalty. Upgrade: Mobile shooter.
CHAMPIONS
Behemoth -> Ancient Behemoth
Role: Tank
Description: One of the most feared creatures of Saahar Desert. It is said that their creation predates foundation destruction of Shantiri Empire. Nothing is certain, but many believes that Behemoths are guardians of mythical valley in the heart of Saahar Desert. This valley, became a refugee point for Orc tribe.
Abilities: No enemy retaliation. Suffers causalities at the start of the next turn. Upgrade: Regeneration. Can attack city walls.
Cyclops -> Blood Cyclops
Role: Damage (upgrade: Ranged)
Description: Huge, oversized wizard's creation. Cyclops had no right to survive the experiments, but they were too dumb to know about it.
Abilities: Immune to mind control spells and abilities. Upgrade: Death stare, Cyclops can attack unit in its line of sight (with laser beam ).

i wonder if they also use recycled orcs, centaurs, goblins, cyclops in this one.
and since every facton has an animal(too much game of thrones eh?)
i assume we get one animal in stronghold line-up too.
my guess is some kind of cat, maybe panther.

I'd actually hope for the ashan version of heroes to make basilisk into badass champion creatures(not necessarily for the orcs though),I mean the basilisk is considered to be the king of the snakes and to have extremely potent poison on top of it having a literal death-stare,making it one of the deadliest creatures among mythological creatures.

I am getting old and do not want things to change
To be everything would be perfect if the line-up were something like this::
Core:
Goblin - Goblin with armor (and no coward thingy)
Wolf Rider - Wolf Rider with armor
Ranged unit - either classic hoMM3 orc or centaur
Elite:
Caster Either classic Blood Lust Orc or Shaman - Bigger badder caster
Wyvern or Thunderbird - Bigger Wyvern or bigger thunderbird
Warrior type (HoMM5 and 6) - bigger warrior
Champion:
Behemoth - Ancient Behemoth
Ranged Cyclops - Ranged Cyclops, but stronger (Homm3+Homm5-6)
I do not like change.. I just want a tweeked HoMM3 version pls.

I can definitely see the Wolf-Rider be a thing in a future line-up, especially since they already have a Wolf model for the Haven faction.

Not really digging their design. Too lean and too " foxy " They feel like jackals who suddenly went bipedal and decided to throw spears.
I still want Oliphants or some other war beast.
