The Fappening
So, iCloud and maybe more cloud services were hacked and hundreds of nude celeb pictures are all over the internet. What do you make of this? Do you think it will effect public's behavior in general, in regards to trust these on-line storages or will they think "who would bother to hack me" anyway. If it was you, would you sue the company providing the service? Is the future of internet really clouding?

I have them, too, Sal. Torrent sites immediately made a package version. I wish I was the kind of person who could resist it on an ethical basis, though. It's horrible when you imagine it happens to you.

Actually, i'm quite meh @ this? Celebrity nudes are hardly a new thing, this is simply the first time so many nudes of different famous celebrities were leaked at once.

What's new is, they haven't hacked a computer or secretly took some photos with telescopic zoom this time. They hacked the cloud, which is why there are so many pictures at once. I think that is beyond a matter of nude pictures.

Internet is right now a gang area. 3 months ago someone from China used my CC to buy 15 airplanes tickets from China to Panama. I never used that card on internet so go figure. When bank called I was like wtf.
They bought one by one until the card was rejected. Silly.

That's what I wondered too, until I remembered I'd done the same thing. Except I would not use any account that links back to me, just so I won't get sued if anyone ever sees them and implodes.

It can be part of sexting which is no more only about text messages, it evolved into video and photo sharing. (Apparently, no girl has done that for you ). It can also be, when you are a sex symbol, super model etc, you can get quite obsessed with your body and your own image, I mean regular women share hundreds of selfies, posing sexy in front of the mirror, all the time.

But you'd think those kind of messages would be in somewhat more private media, like say, email or somekind of messenger protocol.
And not on the internet file sharing sites. That are meant for spreading things around.

Like Lex, my reaction has pretty much been Meh. I mean, come on, we've seen most of these actresses pretty much naked in movies and magazines all the damn time. A few leaked photo's is nothing. Probably good publicity for some of them. Great way to boost a flagging career ... leaking hazy smartphoned pictures of your privates lmao.

The cloud is private, at least in theory. It's purpose is not to only share files, but also to store your archive on a private space on the internet reserved for you, since you have little storage room in your smartphone. You can even buy more GB of space, if it gets full. You also reach all your archive with every device you have, syncing your files etc.
