I'm not. I like Cabir, but they are Salamander unworthy. Salamanders should be flightless fire-dragon type creatures.

roc, pegasus, halfling, mummy, peasant, 2 kind of trolls(mountain-lake), elementals
AND!
lizardman+gorgon+basilisk if they not planning to use them in a town. i miss them, at least they can be introduced to new fans(newfags) with this title.

Really people tell me this: Why you want elements in HOMM games after they proved TIME AND FREAKING TIME AGAIN that they can't create them properly.
Ones they looked like child-characters, once like pokemon and other times they were cheap copies of other creatuers.
Cut the elementals please, they are soooo D&D anyway.

D&D and other TRPGs grabbed them origially from Sword and Sorcery literature. Also beings/spirits/monsters made from one or other classic element are pretty common in myth and folklore in general.
TBH your anti-D&D flaming is becoming more and more annoying.

No, there aren't elemental creatures like the ones in HOMM in myths.
They have NAMES, they aren't called Fire Elemental.
Fire Elemental = Slavic Rarog or Salamander, Ifrit.
Electric Elemental = Japanese Raiju
Sand Elemental = Native American Seitaad
Water Elemental = There are actually many of those, my pick would be the Native American living lake called the Hinqumemen.
Lava Elemental = Cherufe
Stone Elemental = More than one, like the Akselloak and the Nargun.
Earth Elemental = Antaeus could pass, but also Gnome and Obambo.
Ice Elemental = Chenoo from Native American mythology.
Darkness Elemental = Gaueko
Light Elemental = Will o Wisp, St.Elmo's Fire and some others.
Wind/Air Elemental = Sylph, Hala/Ala and the Storm Elemental known as Planetnik.
Smoke Elemental = Enenra
Mud Elemental = Ballybog and Dorotabo
There are many more, but these will do.

Yup there are many good ideas and creatures that can be adapted from D&D. Just get your inspiration and give your own spin to it (or just fit it into your world). To ignore its influence on fantasy video games or even worse demonize is a bit idiotic IMHO.
All gameshave taken something from D&D as they have taken it from literature, movies, other games or myhology/folklore.
Lets not forget that the original Crag Hack, was Jon Van Canegham's 1st edition AD&D character.

Actually this is the one little thing where i agree with you. I also would prefer them to be named differently.
Also thank you for a list of mythological elemental creatures. I didn't have time to start looking examples. Also finding a good number of those i didn't know about, so thanks for some interesting new information.
