Map making problem

I want to upload a map(h3m file) and send it to someone. But after i save the file, in ANY folder, it won't show unless i use the Open file dialog from the Map editor, but this way i can't upload it or even put it in an archive, and no it isn't hidden, and i've set options to show hidden folders or files anyway.

Side note: if this helps, i have noted that there is a lock icon in the file icon, does this mean anything???

Any help???

It'd perhaps be easier with screenshots of what's going on.

A possibility is that when you press the load button on an internet page as you want to upload the file, you haven't marked "show all files" or something similar, so it only shows files with certain extensions, such as e.g. .exe.

Well unless there are two different maps folders (which incidentally I think I've experienced before), then I guess you could perhaps use Search to search for the file.

Search can be used by minimizing everything, so you're on the Desktop, then holding down the windows button and pressing f.

Perhaps you're not alone: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=36151

Edit: So now you should be able to locate and copy the files back, but perhaps like suggested, it'll work better if you simply have your installation outside of your program files folder.

I don't know to be honest, I ever only played the game on Win98 & XP I think.

No you won't? Read the link.

Edit: It describes where to go to get your finished map, the whole removing from program files is merely for avoiding future problems.

To spell it out..
click on "Fichiers de compatibilité" as seen in your screenshot where your maps are saved.
Now you can see the file you couldn't find before.
Copy it and place it somewhere on your machine, e.g. the actual maps folder, desktop, etc.
Now you should be able to upload it to the internet, etc.

I do not know if this works, but that's what I get from reading what I linked to. I've never played HoMM 3 on Win7.

Sounds like "Account-Control-Settings."  Hm, Maybe 1st, try opening the locks by doing so as administrator. But, iirc, when set to High the locks appear and hose things up. Reset to Minimum and see if they disappear.

Thanks, i'll redo it anyways, even though it's my first map and i understand i probably wouldn't do good, the map is just ABYSMAL, i'm a pretty bad map designer
Proof for it's badness here

Do u want to play against BAI at 800%? No, as far as I know it only goes to 255X255 and even in that if u make a map with underground the map editor will use too many dwellings what can cause problems during the game.

HD mod is enough to effortlessly play online, feel free to google it if you encounter any problems with game versions compatibility.
