DISPLACEMENT I find this spell very useful in a castle siege, "Push them up against the walls so you can pick them off!"

as I've said before, if it says "all friendly targets" it's gotta be good. The same goes for "all enemy targets" I mean, slow is nice, but mass slow... ahhhhhh! What's that, mister super-fast tactics hero? I don't THINK so!
I also thoroughly enjoy the phantom image spell (basically 2x create illusion). My order hero in the order campaign (level 20 right now) can make 20 medusas. Hey, not bad for a "non-summoner" hero! It makes an interesting game to just send the hero against large stacks and just keep making illusions of the tough guys

Life Tactic
One of my favorite tactics in battle is to cast mass slow, regeneration on myself, defender, retribution and stoneskin. By doing this I can walk around my hero by herself and mop up just about any army (at level 30 ).

i don't know if this should be here but aura of fear is nice when it comes from an artifact 9hideous mask/amulet of fear). with GM melee, you can retalliate before an attack, making the attacker flee before actually attacking.
this can also work by casting first strike on bone dragons or aura of fear on any first-strike units. most powerful combo is to cast aura of fear and first strike on griffins.

Mass Fervor is a very nice life spell.
It seems to raise moral and gives the army an extra turn in batlle.

Troll power
Regeneration is a very good Life magic spell.
BTW, Anyone know the difference between Defender and Celestial Armor spells? Defender is a lower level spell yet it gives 50% boost to range and melee defense. Celestial Armor only gives 25% protection.

They are actually very different spells. If you read the info text about defender you will notice that it ONLY works when you are defending. (Press the defend button)
Celestial armor is an easier spell to use but in some cases defender can result in fewer casualties.

That's not very useful. I almost never use the Defend button...

I was going to say the same thing that Nernug did. I don't think everyone would have been so excited about Defender if they realized that it only works when you're defending. Being attacked is not "defending."

This spell can be VERY useful. If you only have your spell-casting hero in your army, you can cast regeneration, defender, a ward (if applicable) and retribution and you can survive just about any encounter. The only damage that you do is return melee damage and retribution damage, but it adds up.

I think that the spells depend a lot on which team you are using.
For instance if I was using the Order team, then I would have to use the mass slow spell all the time.
Reason? Coz if you have a team of halflings, dwarves, mages (which I admit are useless unless you have more than 200), genies and titans, then get your hero to cast mass slow, pelt the fatigued army with all your spells and thunderbolts, and you can win virtually any battle.
Mass precision is also very good.

Displacement
Great for flicking the enemy up against the walls for archer attacks.
Also for those manky battles at the start when you are weak.
Slow and displacement go together well.
Personally I think they should get bad morale too.
If I seen a dirty big hand come out of the clouds and flick me across the battle field I'm sure I would give a second thought to attacking again LOL!

then expert death and expert nature summons the Ice demons - brrr - they freeze the opponents to the death and cost you almost nothing - I could go on but then you will always choose nature and death combination.
I beg to differ, death magic is clearly the weakest magic school and the highend nature summons are as good as the demonologist specials.
I'd rather crank Chaos magic in on my druid than dead magic.

Hand of death really rules! Especially in those scenarios where you have to kill an enemy hero.
