Poll Question:
Striders - Yea or nay?

So we've now received a description of the Striders, I'll quote it here:

Quote:
While they are better practitioners of the Arcane Art, the Faceless do not possess the physical might and battle prowess of their archenemies, the Angels. To even the odds, and because ruse and deception are not always a viable option, the Faceless have created the Striders. These “living armours”, made of Shadowsteel (or, some would say, grown from the very blood of the Faceless), are not dissimilar, in principle, to Wizards’ constructs like Golems or Gargoyles.

Striders are possessed by the essence of a Faceless puppeteer, who controls it from the shadows. While capable of standing their own in a fight, their main role is actually to disrupt and negate the enemy’s magic. Not many people have encountered Striders and lived to tell the tale – therefore, I am unable to give you a reliable description of what the creature actually looks like! Most stories describe them as tall and gaunt, with long arms and legs, giving the Striders an almost insectile appearance. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination…

Reactions towards this creature have been mixed so far. Therefore, I would like to know, based on the information so far, what your opinion is regarding these constructs?

Interesting, but they don't fit Dungeon.

Plus they occupy a spot which can be used for a better (or more popular) unit...

They sound too similar to the golem and as Blob2 said, they take the spot of a more interesting creature.

Striders >>>>>>> Shadow Unicorns

On one hand, Striders are not my favorite idea. I would have greatly preferred a new mythological creature. But at the moment this doesn't matter.

Striders fit Dungeon's themes of darkness and manipulation and though I don't love them, I find them acceptable in Malassa's Thousand Faces and Shield of Darkness. I do like that it's the Faceless who have created them, in order to fight in the brawls that the Faceless don't appear in, but are masterminds of.

Nightmares, though, I really want to see in Inferno fighting alongside Efreets. So basically, I'm still vastly in favor of Faces and Shield and I still don't like Blade.

Nay

Better fits as a neutral, Faceless IMHO are creators of beasts and illusions, not constructs.

I'd say the ideal Dungeon Elite line-up would be Minotaur/Hydra /Manticore (with a spellcasting Faceless as Champion), or given that both Black Dragons and Hydras are Champions- Minotaur/Manticore/Shadow Witch or Medusa.

I like the idea of some kind of "insectoid" in Dungeon, thus Yay.

I don't mind the idea of a puppet for the Faceless, but this creature should not take up a space in the Dungeon ranks, particularly not at the cost of essential creatures like Medusa, Manticore and (duh!) Faceless!? I mean, why is this creature present in the two line-ups that DO NOT have Faceless in them?? It doesn't make sense!!

I wouldn't mind if this was a neutral creature that could be summoned by the Faceless, similar to how Devils in H4 could summon Ice Demons, but as an individual creature ... NO!

i was sceptic about that at first days, that strider may not fit, but the lore and word "insectoid" makes me convinced that it indeeds fits very well.

dungeon-darkness-underworld is an alien world to ashan, at least it should be.

we have no insect-like creature,
insects look pretty alienistic+scary sometimes,

and sorry but shadow unicorn is ridicilous in terms of looking scary.

strider as i imagine would surely look scary.

shadowsteel version + some hallow parts like animated armor.

btw shadow unicorns/nightmares are pure disrespect to dungeon, sylvan and inferno as i stated before.

It makes a lot more sense than elite faceless, since they're to important and physically weak to fight themselves.

Interesting concept, can't imagine it as a dungeon unit though. Don't like where they are going with the lore.

I agree. But sadly, I think this is all the information we're getting before the poll closes. Anyway, I myself voted 'interesting' because I do like the concept.
