Heroes Diversity
Unexpected dose of free time, fever and strong medication made me think about heroes in the upcoming Heroes game.
Diversity was one of the highlights of H3 and H4, where we could choose from characters of many races inside one faction. For example - genies, humans, dwarves, halflings in Tower/Academy. Troglodytes, minotaurs and humans in Dungeon. In Heroes V and VI such a diversity was... forgotten.
I'd like to see diversity again. What do you think about bigger variety of heroes to choose from in H7? H6 did a great job with bringing back some old characters, but in general most of the heroes looked and felt really similar.
What races would I like to see in H7 (by town):
Haven - Humans, Angels and even Blazing Glories. I'd like to see Maximus again, but it's probably impossible.
Academy - Humans, Genies, Rakshasas and... at least 1 Cabir hero .
Necropolis - wider variety of undead and living heroes. Skeletons, zombies, vampires, specters, humans and elves.
Stronghold - Orcs, Centaurs, Gnolls and Goblins. More beastmen!
Sylvan - Elves and Dryads.
Dungeon - Dark Elves, Minotaurs, Troglodytes and Medusas.
What do you think? Do you have any particular heroes you would like to see once again?

Generally, I agree with all your propositions.
I'd also like to see Faceless as heroes for Dungeon, especially since their "puppets" got into the lineup.

I recall discussing this before. I still hold my opinion: there should be more races present in each faction heroes roster (compared to H6).
There's a good opportunity to see them with nearly full new rosters, but in the end depends of Ubisoft.

No offense, mate. But this is like the 3rd or 4th thread started talking about the very same thing since HeroesVII has been announced.

yep - making heroes come from diferent races is great, and even tho some may think it's only "cosmetic", i miss that in newer heroes. It adds a lot to the charm.
one question bugs me tho - will we even have several heroes to choose from like we did before? or will be again only two "main" heroes like in H6? maybe it's been mentioned and im sorry if i missed it ... it's just that H6 hero selection realy sucked imo.

Mea culpa... At lease Ubi has bigger chances to notice how important this matter is to us .
I hope we will still have access to "create your hero" feature. It was one of the few good things in H6.

One thing I think should limit it is humanoid appearance, after all, boots on an orc is all well and good, but exactly how is a centaur going to wear such things?

Hoof-padding, Exceptionally elaborate horseshoes, Cut the sole of the boot out so the hoof can stick through it, use the boots as glorified shin/ankle-guards.

But they'd need 2 pairs anyway wouldn't they, to get the same effect?

So we should limit game mechanics because we can't visualize anything other than humanoid creatures wearing humanoid wears? Come on... Why wasn't Heroes 3 subject to such scrutiny? There were demon, efreet, vampire and lich heroes wearing Angel wings and Sandals of the Saint, but never ever heard anyone complaining about that. Troglodyte heroes using Speculum and Spyglass, not even a whisper about that inconsistency...

what I don't understand about some of the returning heroes in Ashan, is how come the dwarves and elves can live so long?
you got Tieru and Erling in MMX, and they come back 400 years later looking the same age... and many undead heroes too hue hue hue, so why is knowledge of recent history as poor as it is in Ashan when you can cover nearly a thousand years in two generations?
don't make no sense to me hue hue hue

got a bit disappointed finding out this thread was about fictional races. Were there any non-white (or blue/red) heroes before h6? can't think of any...
anyway, i want to see minotaurs riding horses and to all those questioning artifacts on non-human heroes: squires and war-council.

Natasha the Sorceress from Heroes 1, Maximus the Knight (Half-Orc) also from Heroes 1, Roxana the Necromancer from Heroes 2 or Sarakin the Wizard from Heroes 2.
There are also Alamar and Luna from HoMM2 which don't look like white.

Quote: H3 - Edric? Xarfax? Ignatius? Andra? Alagar? Elleshar?
how could i forget Edric, alagar and Andra!? no one else really seem that non-white honestly . didn't play h1-2 (tried, pc can't handle) so can't say much about them. seriously though, diversity is surprisingly good throughout the franchise (as little as it is, it's still a lot more than many others ) so i shouldn't need to worry despite ubi's involvement.
back on topic: really want to see more races as heroes in all factions except maybe haven, though hopefully we can get some elves, orcs and dwarves there leading armies as long as there is some sense behind it and it doesn't take too much development-time. minotaurs are probably a guarantee at least.
