Poll Question: Game speed
How was your experience with slower game (H5 - H6). We all know H5 was slow for AI turn. I am referring to transition between map and battle, battle to map, redundant cinematic like luck, casting speed, ... Anything that should not in your opinion slow the game.
You can also view the question, after the slash, has to what length the speed (Let's suppose H3-H4 standard or the equivalent) makes a heroes game. You can also leave anything has a comment to explain choices.

a major reason i don't play h5 often anymore (coupled with level-ceiling, i mean snow that). made even worse in h6 with those annoying sound-glitches when you increased speed. it's nice being able to make combat faster, but it should be that fast to begin with. no one wants to sit for ten second watching the harpy move and attack then move back painfully slow.
enemy turns were also atrocious, just sitting there for several minutes, unable to do snow. horrible, just horrible.

Maybe I'm just too much of a "casual" or whatever, but I don't mind it. Speeding up the game never brought me any sound bugs, but then again, bugs don't always effect everyone. As for the slower attacking mechanics of luck attacks and spells, it adds a feel to it. Sure, they could just speed it up and say "now blind" or "more damage" or whatever, but the graphics, to me, is part of the pull. I want creatures and towns to look cool, and although not everyone agrees on what "cool" is, I'd think everyone wants things to look interesting, and not bland. Thus, I back the lucky attack graphics and spells. They look interesting. It (usually) looks better than just a simple sword stab or a small ball of light.
Although I do have problems with computer speed, I don't mind it. I suppose by the time you would play against someone else (for me, I tend to play with my brother) our turns individually were longer than all of the computer players turns combined... in H6. In H5, any larger map size did tend to end in super long AI turns, so that is a draw back, so it'd be nice to play against a huge number of enemies with less wait.
Transition between battle map and adventure map has always been 1 second at the most. Over maybe 60 battles in a single match, I have wasted... about 2 minutes going back and forth between adventure and battle maps. In a game that could take hours. I don't mind much.
Town screen transitions took (for me) about 3 seconds the first time, then near instant after that. No problems there.
I do remember H3 feeling sluggish for some units (the Unicorn sticks out in mind for some reason) but again, it's never bad, for me
I play Clash of Heroes on the DS a lot, and it's only 1 on 1. I typically plan my turns in advance of my turn during my enemies', so my turns almost always are as short or shorter than my enemies. That was a wait fest. Most of my time is waiting for units to attack and make their way across the battlefield, or charge up power, and spells take a second or so to actually activate. For all of H5/6's wait times, I think I wait more proportionally in CoH than H5/6. And even then, it's not so bad.
While I'd like them to speed up AI turns, I'd also like them to have a competent AI, and those things very rarely overlap. I would absolutely love it if they did, but, I think it's fine, mostly. I would be more annoyed having it be unplayable when it comes out, but then again, I tend to play it years after it comes out, after all the patches hit, so when I get around to it, it tends to play like a charm.
I guess I should vote "good", as I'd play it nonetheless.

I guess i'm voting on ok/not sure ...
idk i never experienced long transitions between map/battle/city screens realy - 1 second or less. Maybe it's because i have prety good PC, or maybe it's just coz like Protolisk said, bugs/slowdowns don't happen to everyone. As far as AI turns go, sure sometimes it was long, but not as much that i would say unreasonable. I owuld say that no huge maps it was 5 seconds per player at the absolute most, and in H6 case it even took less - so no problem here.
That being said, i did find deafult speed settings quite slow - i mean the combat speed and hero movement speed, but i just crack it up a notch and it was ok. I also never experienced chipmunk sound glitch, but at the same time i never found it necessary to put speed settings on maximum - so idk, maybe if i did. The attack animations of some creatures like harpy for eg. was too much tho.
I know one of the apeals of H3 is how quickly and instantly things happen, but that's also what i'd expect on modern PC. I remember when i first got H3 back in the day, and i had realy snowy PC, the game ran quite slow ... even slower than H6 on slow settings on my current PC. So i can't complain.

@kiryu133 I have the same issue whenever u play H3-H4 if you jump to H5 you scream like a chimp on fire.
@Protolisk There was a tweak you could do yourself in H6 to take out the luck and conversion cinematic. Do you think it should be an option in the future since not everyone find it?
I just thought about something else in that matter. H4 caravans while traveling where invisible opposed to H5 witch where all over the place. What your impression on both and witch one u prefer?

Sure, why not. If the option was still in, and others could turn it off if they want, no harm done.
I didn't play much H4, so I didn't know they were instant, which if that's the case, that'd look kinda weird to me. I dunno, I liked watching my caravans in H5 trundle along. I guess I'm a visual person.
