Should I preorder/buy this game?
Here's the story: I loved Heroes 5 and its 2 expansions A LOT, I replayed their campaigns about 4 times each And had endless fun in the multiplayer.
Then Heroes 6 came. I preordered, expected a great game, and all there was was disappointment. You all probably know about all the bugs and everything that made the game terrible, so lets skip that part. Not even multiplayer of 6 was good, as each game was basically ended in a few minutes due to the game rewarding rushing.
After H6 I got extremely disappointed in Ubisoft. Who says ubisoft won't extremely mess up this next game as well?
What about any of you? Will you preorder the game, or buy it at all? And when, after the first few bug fixing months?

If you pay attention to the game dev, you'll find your answer.
Personally, I am getting my hands on it the instant it gets released. No drm snow spoiling your experience. No stupid features or design choices, not anything unexpected at least. The game is pretty well exposed in the dev blog so you can get a basic idea of what you get. And just by what they told and showed us so far, plus the mentality with which the game is constructed (voting, listening to the community instead of not giving 2 snows about us), I'd prepurchase it for sure.

There will be reviews and plenty of videos to help you decide. For me, preorderingly only makes sense if you are interested in the goodies that come with preordering. I don't like giving money upfront unless the offer is tempting.

I will absolutely NOT pre-order h7(on current info at least). I hope I can participate in the beta, but unless I absolutely fall in love with the game I will still wait to hear from game-critics and fellow players how they feel.
I went and pre-ordered collectors edition of h6 and... Well those scars just won't get healed with pretty words and promises. I feel the game has done some questionable choices, by not listening to fans on townscreens for example(the cartoon-ish style is just the worst!) and kinda feel at times that they think they know better than players, which is alarming to say the least. Most influences seem to be from h6 which is not a good thing in my mind. A lot of times it feels we need to stand up for some of very core features of the series like random-skills and it's scary since the devs SHOULD know/understand the philosophy and core structures of the series. There is good chance I will buy the game at some-point, but if I see bad reviews and player evaluations I hopefully will not buy the game and hope better dev next time (and/or Ubi selling the franchise).

i'd advise against it.
You have no idea if you're going to like the game or if it's even finished. do you want to pay more than full price to maybe get a finished game and some extra doodads?
I would consider it if the company releasing said game had a track record of not messing up their initial releases. I don't think Ubisoft has released a fully finished a game in maybe 2 years by now and in some cases (h6) still hasn't fixed them to a playable standard. had it been, say, Nintendo or CD project RED, sure. They at least seem to respect their customers. But ubisoft? Hell no!
of course, it depends on how feel about these kind of practices. If you are in fact completely ok with paying for a promise, go right ahead. but remember we have absolutely no idea how the game is going to turn out.

Got burned with H6 already. Not that I preordered it, but because I purchased it at all. Based on what it is known so far H7 has the potential to become one of best games in series. But that is it. I will wait untill reviews and in-game videos of it become available, and if indeed those will indicate H7 will live to up to it's potentials, then, and only then, will I buy it. If game will turn out to be just average entry in the series, I will wait untill price drops. If it will be dissapointment like H6, I will most likely skip it altogether.
I like Heroes, but it is not my No.1 series (that is Total War - which too has been huge dissapointment with Rome II, after amazing Shogun II), so i don't even consider a preorder here.
So my advice would be not to preorder. If the game will be awsome, and you will play it for months or years to come, then waiting extra weak or so will not diminish that. If you are realy a fan and want extra stuff that comes with preorder sure ... there will probably be plenty more info from Ubi, so you will have time to decide I think.

i say, wait for first impressions about beta test. it will give some idea.
i tested h5, original game was just like what i guessed, didnt like it much.
bought h6 with pre-order, i find it "meh". didnt tested it before, and didnt read anything related about beta phase, how it was etc etc...
this time i ll do anything to enter beta testing, even if i cant do i ll talk and ask questions to beta testers, because i have high suspect about ubisoft but i also like what i see from mmh7 site and this time no money from me till i get some good product.

I'd be inclined to agree with this. If you want to and got the money, go for it.
And does it realy matter what we think? If the majority of us tells you not to do so, won't you, despite wanting to? Or, vice versa, if the majority tells you to do so, will you, despite you not actually wanting to?
Or is this just a thread affirm your decision?

It is not about weather one of you says Yes or No, it was rather about knowing your reasons as to why you will/won't do it.
I guess there really is a lot of time until the game is out, and maybe there will be more things that will help decide so I guess I will wait it out for that time.

I won't preorder, and this is why:
With H6, both the beta and the demo worked fine on my laptop. Despite the few bugs i quite liked the beta, so i preordered the game.
On release of the game it did not run, i only got a black screen. After about a week someone finally found a solution and i could play at last, only finding the bug-fest you all know.
That disappointment, combined with the fact that i saw it a bit later with 50% discount, makes that i'll wait for user experiences before i buy the game. If the game fails to deliver i'll even wait for a serious discount, just like i did with SoD.

Unless you're really interested in getting the pre-order bonuses, you should wait for beta Early Access and get impressions of the game, be by yourself or asking on forums (like here).
H6 was a terrible experience.

Preordering is risky, I most certainly will not as the chances of it not being finished is to high for me. And it is not just Heroes lots of other games have been released in bad conditions recently like Rome Total War 2 and Assassin's Creed to name a few.

I personally would not preorder for all the gold in the world.
But, I certainly agree with Elvin's and War-Overlord's posts.
If you have the money and, think you can afford to lose it without any sentimental attachments to those monies: Sure go for it.
Personally, I would wait until the start of May(about a month before declaring that the devs are, for sure, ready to release the final version 1.0).

There's a reason that releasing half-finished games is becoming the norm of the industry.
No reason to finish your game if people have already paid for it. Yes you can cancel your preorder but often they delay the review copies to a few days after release.. so you can't know.
Don't preorder any game, ever, really.

I am surely going to buy this game, because I think it's shaping up really nicely so far. I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to preorder. I think it's a bit too early for that.
