Original Heroes 5 & Hammers of Fate campaigns in ToE

I have a very strange issue while playing the Vanilla and HoF campaigns in ToE. I have both campaigns installed as a modification.

For some reason I can't physically train my Agrael to have "Urgash Call". The AI keeps giving me absolutely random skills while levelling up, which get me no where close to it

Training my heroes in ToE isn't that difficult, as there is a memory mentor in nearly every campaign mission and the AI seems to read my intentions for training a lot better, in HoF it is as difficult as it is in in the Vanilla. I never ever managed to get "Absolute Defense" for my Wulfstan, despite the amount of times I kept replaying the missions and going for the same skills every time.

Please help I searched the internet a number of times and I could not find anything that can help me train my heroes.

To be honest getting absolute skills is ridiculously difficult as the odds are against you But Vanilla, HoF and TotE have different skill requirements so make sure you are referring to the right skillwheel.

Actually, H5 and HoF campaigns for ToE use all of the ToE's gameplay elements, with the exception of map objects, meaning the requirments are the same as for ToE campaign.

I downloaded some old skilwheels, they made no difference. Just to check I used the console to level up Agrael using the old skillwheels, I couldn't get Urgash Call.

Just to get a comparison to ToE, I played the prologue mission with Quroq. Yep, no problem there Flaming arrows, Empathy, Triple ballista - anything I want

I even tried to edit the Vanilla maps just to place a memory mentor in them, with no luck, as the editor can't read them.

I got absolutely no idea what to do about this. It's like the AI struggles to interpret and forsee the paths of growth for all the heroes in Vanilla and HoF. Bearing in mind that the game is patched to 3.0, HoF and the Vanilla use outdated versions of the game - 2.1 and 1.1. Maybe that the cause of it??

Strange, I could always develop Godric and Isabel exactly the way I wanted.

I was playing on H5+HoF campaign mod for ToE.

I'm actually using modded skill requirments so it should be harder for me...

Well, the game version was 3.1 and the mod I played on was of my own making, but it doesn't do anything related to skill suggestions, only to their respective requirments, so it's unlikely to help...

You could use this cheat guide, enable cheats and console, and then use 'skill_unlearn skillname' (in ToE, you should exclude all the prefixes like "hero_skill_", "demon_feat_" etc.) and use it as a portable version of Memory Mentor.

I'll give it a try. I generally don't like using cheats, but it doesn't look like I have much choice with this stubborn AI

If that's any consolation, the cheat still consumes gold like a regular Memory Mentor.

Just make sure not to unlearn any skills you don't actually have, as it will give you addicional skill without taking any away, and thus making it a bit more cheaty.

During the mission, you have to type 'enable_cheats' first. Only then you can use cheats like 'unlearn_skill'

Also, I don't think you have to use @.

I typed "enable_cheats". Not typing "@" will result the console not to recognise any of the commands.

Still nothing.

Are you playing on 3.1? Because I'm certain it works for me.

Edit: Oh. Glad it worked, then. Have a nice game in this case.

Unfortunately I am playing on 3.0. I can't update my game to 3.1

An error message keeps popping up every time I try to update it, it says that HOMM5 is not installed...well it kind of is

That is such absolute snow.

Go to your Start menu then left click on all programs, scroll down to your main folder of Ubisoft, left click onto it(opens up the whole directory tree) and, find the Update link + left click onto that link.

From here, do not refuse the European patch that serves as the whole wide world's editions of MMH5:T.o.t.E version 3.0. Let it download it and click install and, wait until the entire installation process is completed. Most of the time, you will have to wait one to two more minutes before the window gets to disappear all on its own.

Otherwise, you must regedit your installation of windows and make a lot of on hand physical cleanups and reorganizations. Plus, when was the last time you did your Windows Updates? This is not to be ignored, well, not any more.

In all, have a great time playing Heroes 5:T.o.t.E until Spring of 2015.
