Portugal is plain white. Wherever you mistake for voing Italy probably voted Iran, same colors.
Edit: Sorry, I guess you meant Italy voted for Portugal, not "Portugal for Italy"

Yes, I'm surprised that Finland, Sweden and Germany have voted USA instead of Russia. Oh, and even Ukraine  .

Not to mention that this is based on US having the superior military power, but if that were to change, then I for one, rather have US sit on the big guns than Nkorea, Russia or China.

I am aswell. At least when it comes to Germany. Finland is in this case a little harder to read. But Sweden, meh, we have been spewing hateful propaganda towards USA since the days of Olof Palme, so no surprise there. Although our dear media recently realised what a great threat Russia is and now panic about it.

There isn't really much of a difference which one will have "the big guns". There is some misconception that on international level the democracies are more peaceful which isn't really supported by facts. The foreign policy of a country usually doesn't follow the same principles as its internal policy, although partial matches are possible. It's a different environment.

For us (Finland) I'm guessing it would have to do with the general distaste for US military adventures, not to mention the warmongering rhetoric many hardliners of a "certain" political party in the US like to spew regularly.
