Heroes I+
If there was a possibility, what would you like to add for this game? Or it is senceless to think about it since we have Heroes III?

Only if you are talking about a mod,or an add-on, because it's true it's senceless since we have MORE than Heroes III.
For example Homm2 Homm4 Homm5 Homm6 Homm7 Homm8,and maybe there would be many more later

There is a Tournament Edition for Heroes 1 which adds a few useful features.
Also, some optional mods for adding the grid and even the Wait ability for non-AI players are available.

I'm not aware of a mod like that, yet I know a few people capable of doing so.

The problem is:
I'm going to write somehow a HoMM I clone, so I want to collect problems and desires to be considered.
I can't guarantee if it'll be ever released, so...

You can base it on VCMI, i think.
What to add?
Of cause, 100+ new towns and 100500 monsters and heroes.

But when you will get older, eventually you'll understand that it's not the amount of creatures and towns which make the game, but the AI and general gameplay instead.
I personally think making free Heroes clones is nothing more than a useless enthropy. Such projects are hard in terms of working days, and have less feedback than actual modding. Working alternative. Btw, I should find time to answer in that thread...

AI and gameplay is parallel to content enlarge.

What about HoMM 2+?
Add Wait command;
Reduce Flyer movement range to speed;
Add Fortress;
Add Inferno;
(Add Coven);
(Add Conflux);

Quote: AI and gameplay is parallel to content enlarge.
What I mean is that VCMI is not playable currently, and its ability to add 100500 new towns and heroes interests only the modders, but not the actual players who need the proper gameplay on the first place.

I am the modder and actual player at one person

I'm not against your option, i only consider it not constructive.
Let all flowers bloom.
Even if you don't want freeHeroes1, he may program something others can use in their code.

Actually, if there are any ideas how to create a balanced game based on H1 engine, I'd read them with pleasure.
But I don't think if it is possible... Do you?

I'm not so in Heroes I and II but after that the only ones that are a sequel are H5, 6 and when it cames 7. Cause UbiSoft doesn't spend, specially not in creativity.

What Doomhammer obviously meant is that H2 is already very close to H1 in terms of gameplay and graphic concept/style, being a continuation of many ideas for H1 which didn't make it in the prequel. Making a major mod for H1 is not very well demanded and bears much less sense than a H2-to-H3 conversion since these games differ considerably, and what is even more important, both are often preferred one over other for many players with different tastes for both graphics and gameplay.

A drawbridge, so your melee units can leave the castle during sieges.
But yeah, like orzie and Doomhammer said, with the exception of four hero portraits, the campaigns, scenarios and multiplayer maps, there is nothing in Heroes I that its sequel didn't implement, better animate or expand on, no creatures, factions, artifacts, landmarks, events, spells, skills, nothing was left behind. So, why start with Heroes I and try to catch up with its sequel when you can just go straight to the second game and start breaking new grounds?
