Poll Question: Heroes 7 Demo - yay or nay
I started this pool to see what people think of possible demo for heroes of might and magic 7, but also to possibly attract the eye of and devs, who would read this, and give demo of the game
Now. It is my strong conviction, that demo for a game is a must in this day and age, and that it can only lead to good positive things for the players and for the company. I would like to point out that, for all it's faults, H6 did one great thing, that bringst smile to my face, and that is a great demo! Seriously, if anything was good about H6, it was the demo hands down. It convinced me to buy the game in first week of it's release, even if I wasn't planing to in the first place!
Here is a list of possible positive things of having demo of a game:
- It can serve as means to see if you enjoy the game or not.
- It advertizes the game.
- It can provide people the information if their system will be able to handle the game - VERY IMPORTANT, given high system requierments of H7. (If it is helpful for any laptop owners, Here is my answer to ninjata12, regarding requierments for laptop.)
I know a lot of you may be thinking, including possibly the developers, that demos are outdated, and only have place in the 90's. Well this mentality is WRONG! Why? A lot of the most succsessfull games, including ALL Blizzard titles have a free trial / demo available! I remember I first started World of Warcraft, as a free trial. And I wasn't alone. Free trial was one of the most if not THE most important thing in advertizing that game. Starcraft 2 also has free trial, which includes some multiplayer aswell! And don't forget the awsome succsess of shareware version of Doom.
To conclude, I see only positive effects a game demo has. And today, it can be distributed over internet like wildfire, requiering small download.
But most important thing. Do I think Ubisoft is in position to offer us this if they would want? YES! There will be a free beta with limited content for all people who will preorder, and it would not take much effort to transform that same beta into the game demo after release at least
So my question to you guys. What do you think about H7 having a demo? It would be great to also hear why you guys think demo is good or bad for the game.

Haven't voted since i can't decide. Demo is a good idea, but let's be honest: it's going to be a beta-test called demo. It happened for h6 (though that was more of an alpha) and it'll probably happen now. A open beta demo isn't as interesting.

A demo is free while early access is not, I can tell you now it being free is the only way I would beta test it. I would much more prefer not wasting money; though what one considers "wasting" is quite subjective really.

Beta is only for those who preorder, and is just like Gryphs says. But beta is also for developers, so they can fix bugs, while demo is for player to see how game plays. Again. I would be happy even if demo comes after game launch (but ofc before launch it would be best), so they transform beta into demo.
Perfect compromise would also be, if all people have access to free open beta, but Ubi said there will only be beta for preorders, so demo after launch is only option left.
So far 100% people want demo. C'mon Ubi-NoX or Marzhin, come out of hiding and give us demo please

Demo or open beta, whatever you call it, I want it. I need to try some game mechanics before I buy this. If they don´t make a free accessible demo, I will have to wait until some of my friends buy it so I can try it on his home

100% YES. I perosonally would love to try the game, to find out if I enjoy it. It could be a make or break factor in my pre-oder, which is something Ubi wants, it wants us to preorder, show us you are confident in your product.

Well, Beta should've been for testing the game before it is launched, plus gives the players a feel of the game. So no, I do not think a demo is actually needed. Would invest money "the devs don't have much", in their words.

Which would be true, if the beta was available to anyone. But it's only those who preorder. And demo/free trial/open beta does not matter if you preorder anyway.

People who pre-order game have guarantee access to closed beta. No one ever told, it is only way to be in closed beta, nor that there won't be open one.

No one mentioned also that there WILL be one, and I for one think, that there SHOULD be one. Hence this tread

I am completely in favour of a demo, as it is the fairest way to get people to buy the game. If the game is good people will like the game and buy it. That's precisely how I was introduced to the HoMM series. So if there is no demo, does that mean the dev/publisher has no real faith in the game?
I have to add that, wile the demo ran well on my laptop, H6 itself was unplayable for me (at purchase). So the demo running fine on your pc is no guarantee that your pc meets the system requirements of the game.

Well, I would enjoy to play the demo. It would only let you decide wether you will enjoy or not the game. Indeed, I think I'll celebrate when It'll come out ^-^

Demo is a good thing. It allows people grasp the game a bit before wasting money on crap. Which is this case.

I do not see the point of this, why would anyone choose not to have a demo? If you're not interested you do not download it, simple.

The point, my friend is to spred the word, and when devs will inevitably read this post, they will say: "omg a lot of people want demo, let's give them one"
Otherwise they assume people don't care about it, and then they refuse to provide a demo or open beta of the game. In the past demos of games were something normal ... something I remember we took for granted. But now a days, a lot of companies are releasing games without them. And I think this is bad, and it's not coincidence that in todays times we see a lot of games released with loads of bugs, unfinished or not delivering on the promises, and reverting back to false advertizing. I'm not talking Ubi here, tho I fear they will soon folow the bad examples of EA (worst company award). So we need to talk some sense into them, because demos are one of things that are for Ubisofts own good.
@LW: We can already see the game is full of bugs, it's not like they are hiding it. See necropolis, and count all spider and spider symbols. then they promised one giant bug (strider) in dungeon aswell
