The changes are (imo) interesting, as the walkthrough now becomes much more flexible with timed quests and timed border gates. Which means that faster you are, more goodies you pick. On the other side, if you are really slow, a lot of goodies will automatically open for you month 5-6 (for the info I completed the map in 4.2.2) so is not like you end totally frustrated. However I recommend a rush, for safer game play, as Petar (the author) wanted AI big armies roam around --> bugs after months 6-12.
Then the emerald tower is modified, and I tried to come with fresh ideas, as the original tower is destroying any balance by making your armies invincible. Now you can visit them 5 times each, but everytime you improve a creature type, its purchase cost increases by 10%. On the other side, the tower also proposes a discount (lower prices) of 20% but for a 50 mithril bars price.
So it is possible to keep prices reasonable (my archers prices were 6000 gold/unit, month 3 prices went until 15000/unit then I used the last towers to lower prices and buy what I could for final battles) but you have to take great care of the economy and develop 40-50 estates heroes.
No, I use the wog option to change terrain in front of the town having town portal in its guild, then I teleport in freshly conquered towns the estates heroes. Of course the limit of 8 is still up, and fortunately. All the fun in this map comes from the fact that you always will feel like not having enough heroes -while I was using Deesa, Kyree, Gunnar and each of them level 50+ so you imagine how much they could cover.

So, I just started playing this map. I'm not exactly an expert player and I'm quite slow Indeed cash is a big problem as I often don't have enough money to buy creatures and I always keep a hero near the trading post. Got estate skill on all my heroes except the Baron and I managed to get Kyrre in the tavern. I had to restart the map once because I was stuck, which was quite a shame as I got necromancy as a hidden skill , well 2nd time I got diplomacy, but I think I just wasted a space because all creatures are set to Savage However, the real problem is that I get a really strange error, I will let the screen talk, it says: "Map drawing error". What's wrong with it?

yes I use that value too and no problem. HD mod is just great but I use it at 800x600 to have same distances and mouse setups. As about hidden skills and heroes, don't be ashamed to use the mods I recommend in the text file, including invite tavern (Era) -which can be also substituted by HD mod "invite hero".
I just tested the last version, where I managed to finish the map in 4 months and 1 week, all quests and all towns owned, for a mere score of 498. First week I got Kyrre, Gunnar and Dessa then I upped them to 50-60 levels to get some serious movement bonus.
And last but not last, you can get ALL skills, just use the helm of immortality, equip it (first aid) then ctrl + click on experience icon, it will offer you to switch skills, bring first aid in first screen, unequip the art, now you have a free skill slot. Repeat every time you want to learn a new skill and never accept first aid or it will be over.

Did you played the map more then once? I think the script for secondary skills in Commander's Artifacts is random but maybe Ice Arrow uses something else.
I customized several wog scripts to fit this map, so basically you don't have to restart until all conditions for optimal play are united. Helm is always giving first aid, thus can be used to get all skills.
And the map...uhh, I think I played it 5 times last month, because I am fond of optimizing the micromanagement on. if you just follow the road, it won't work. have to develop economy, secondary heros, plan your moves several turns before, because all good quests have a time limit.

I downloaded the mods, but invite hero seems to don't work on saved games, so I guess I have to restart the map.

And I gave that helm to the commander I guess I can use the helm only when I need a free slot then give it back to the commander for battle.
you must refresh scripts (F11 or F12, don't remember-you will get confirmation message)when loading the game with fresh mods installed, no need to start game.
And yes, you must switch helm, it is the only artefact which we can equip/unequip from commander without losing any bonuses.
This map uses regular tents and borders, so just download Seers huts uncovered, mod, install then press F12 when reloading save. Then use the mod to see every tent and how to get to it. I agree that the map is quite tricky for finding your path, and this is the modified version, where I simplified a lot the tents pattern. The original was a nightmare, Doc likes people to get lost

Ye I just realized, I missed one path to a white tent near the dungeon town and the inferno town underground, cant believe nor understand why I didnt pay any attention to that path til' now. Deleted my question bc I found it but u answered already. Ofc I'm using the seer huts mod, this map is too big to find them manually.
I'm playing this map again, but still cant figure out how to get pass the ice elementals event on the sea. They have 3 ranged stacks so I cant tank them more than 3 rounds even with summons. How do u do it? by the time I get to it I only have at most 100 titans.
I checked save and I beat that event month 2 week 3, 224 titans, titan damage 55-75, speed 16, hero level 42. All 3 elementals groups die on first round .
