I really think they hit something universally catching. I was 99% sure they would win on the very first time I heard the songs.

Well catchy is not the same as good. Yes they were both catchy, but Euphoria was very plain and average europop imo. and Fairytale just very quickly grew annoying. But of course, in a contest like Eurovision, quality is not always what it takes to be a winner, and certainly, if it isn't catchy, it's not going to win.

Cyprus and Poland making it is vexing, but I can live with these results. What a disappointing Semifinal though - No winners here.

Spare me the lecture. If you like progressive 70's rock that grows into you when you have listened to it for weeks, then why bother with Eurovision? The same attitude on this board annoys the heck out of me, do these people even LIKE heroes??? It seems like the worst thing ever cast on mankind.
Euphoria and Fairytale are quality. Those kind of songs don't come often.

I think Russia will win actually, to many people complain about Måns being a generic David Guetta clone...
Latvia has become my favorite. So suggestive and cool. <3

I listen a lot to 70's progressive rock. I also like good pop. One doesn't exclude the other. I just don't think those two songs were particularly good, but obviously that's also a matter of taste.

However, the staging of Heroes is SO GOOD you almost forget that the song itself is only a 7 out of 10 at best.
I liked Latvia and Slovenia more tonight.

Yes 100 % agree, Heroes is all about the staging (and the fact that Måns is a hunk). But Slovenia's song totally ruled. I kind of liked Cyprus song, I would put it through, even if it is nowhere a winner. I'm much more surprised by Lithuania, I mean that was pretty crap. But yeah, Poland was very average.

Indeed, but many people see them as a black horse of this year's Eurovision, because Australia is a special guest. Scoring high would is rather assured (as for they have a great song; I hope that people will appreciate it), but the fact this band is from Australia and Australian artists' status (a special guest) makes it a kind of surprise.
and going back to today's chapter of 60. Eurovision...
I'm glad that Lithuania, Israel, Latvia, Sweden, Slovenia and Poland made it.
First one for having a cheerful song; Israel for a fine mix of boysband and melodies based on Arabic and Jewish ones (mostly Arabic though);Latvia for having a great vocalist; Sweden? Måns' song was just... catchy; Slovenia for a cool and also catchy song; Poland for song that has beautiful text and perfomrmance (the singer, Monika, did an excellent job and sounded way better than in the music video).
The list of my favourite songs semi-final 2 that made it to the final might be a bit chaotic and full of a word "catchy", but oh well. It's my oppinion. Too bad that Czechs did not qualify, because their song was interesting: romantic text, talented performers.
I was surprised that Ireland lost though. Their domination in winning Eurovision Song Contest is one, but having almost every time a fine band and/or artist is another thing. This year's Irish pick was... well, the girl was young and talented, although her song was average in my oppinion.
I don't regret Ireland is off, but it's kind of surprise that we won't see then on Saturday.
About songs I didn't like it was Portugal (average... too average) and of course Cyprus. Cyprus' song was also average and it was not catchy, yet they qualified. Oh well.
Anyway, Saturday seems to be full of emotions. So many good songs!
I wish Slovenia's song had that final "kick"... that would make it amazing. I really like that song though. And yes, I actually listen to 70's progressive rock too. ;P

Long time no see, but I guess this could be a good time to start posting here in the Heroes Community again. I wonder what Måns Zelmerlöw would say if he knew he had a whole forum dedicated to support his entry btw. I really should be more active at this forum a bit more than in the last years, it's just that writing things at work all day makes writing for fun when free less likely to happen.
Now, funny facts about the Swedish entry:
Here in Sweden he’s hugely popular mostly because he has been poster boy and host for the traditional summer TV show Allsång på Skansen where he directs the masses in singing along to stuff like Stockholm in my heart. <3
Here he is:
Watch out for the CHORUS:
Stockholm in my heart <3, let me extol thee,
aged in youthful greenness, City of the Islands, it’s you!
EXACTLY like Britons singing about their Land of Hope and Glory. Melody, message, people...
Which is No Coincidence - Måns tried to qualify for the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2009, with a song named Hope and Glory!
HAHAHA! Tonight you people are TOAST and I am going to point at you and laugh when Måns humiliates you infront of the ENTIRE WORLD! (Europe that is... and Australia...)
