Yes to Galaad, if ubi at least considered the NWC work, I may have appreciated their resulting work and lore, and even the 3D. Other than that, the game mechanism is not terrible in V but still not as good as III.

And I have to admit I lean more toward VI than V, if I had to choose. For one thing, they have the Sanctuary, and I like the graphics as well as the creatures and the hero system better. Strictly my opinion.

In IV they tried to change everything and it was either hit or miss. It is interesting, but not my preferred Heroes.

And spot on, Gryphs and Fred.

No idea - but at a guess, whoever controls funding for the development of new heroes games. They seem to have had Heroes VII rushed out half-done.

Heroes VI was actually very good gameplay wise and enjoyed the campaigns in it a lot - the only thing that annoyed me was the only being able to use bonuses you'd got from playing previous missions if you played it online, because online when playing single player just means Sloooooowwwwwww. It was annoying that you had to register an online uplay account, that you only got the best mission starting bonuses if you played online, and that it was complicated to start uplay offline.

Heroes VII barely works at all for me - incredibly, ubelievably slow. Takes several minutes just to get any campaign mission to start. I hate the look of it too. Shoddy, half finished. Eventually just asked Steam for a refund.

If you fill up the game with too much stuff it will blow.
I don't even bother to play HOMM3 mods because they are so full of stuff.

You should try HotA then. It adds just enough content to make the game better without feeling overwhelmed or oversaturated. In particular, the implementation of bad luck together with the addition of the minus morale/luck artifacts really stepped up the game, now bad morale/luck is more frequent, and getting a high count on both of them is quite important.

I think H3 did it just right. Enough content to make you feel interested, not enough to make you feel confused.

I appreciate the nostalgia, but I think glorifying H3 like this is only half the truth. H3 was great, but going back to the H3 skill system after H4/H5 would be a clear step backwards. Same goes for the magic system (as shown in effect by H7). So while I appreciate the quality of the amount of content in H3, I don't buy the premise that the simplicity is a quality.

I don't think Doomforge is preaching about the specifics of H3 mechanics, but rather the pleasing amount of them: 8 fully fledged Factions, 16 heroes per faction, over a hundred artifacts spread over four tiers, over seventy spells, nearly endless adventure objects, dozens of maps plus easy to use map editor...the game would keep you entertained for months, years even.

Heroes V was severely lacking on several areas such as spells, artifacts, heroes or adv. objects...H4, on the other hand, did an excellent job in this regard

If they mixed H4 and H5-H6 they would probably get... I don't know what but I would have liked to see.

But it's not really possible officially. We can only go counting ahead. Is 8 next, or... ?

I don't see many people playing H4 nowadays. H5 neither, not much. H3, on the other side, I see several tournaments running on steroids. So not so sure about a step back, at least in terms of popularity.

This certainly reflects that H3 was a great game, but also shows some other things: While H5 - imo. - had the overall greater gamedesign, it was also considerably less stable and considerably more resource (CPU/graphics) demanding than H3, and on top of that it had some fundamental design flaws on its own (no proper town portal, for instance). The fact that H3 runs fast and steadily on systems with relatively low specs may well be a big deciding factor in why more people play this game compared to H5 at this point.

Heroes V is a poorly optimized game. Even on my new computer, when playing a GOG edition, that is somehow modiffied to work well with modern OS, like Windows 10, it still faces some graphical issues. Still, I like this game so much that even such issues won't stop me from playing it.

I have never had a problem with H5's optimization even on my worst computer. I really don't know why though.

I did have problems with running H5 on older systems...

And I agree with alcibiades on the problems that the game itself has. I could never embrace as I did H3. So, very mixed feelings, it's not terrible, but a far cry from the smash hit that IS Heroes 3.

I was already shocked to see people pre-ordering H7. Especially when you see it's basically the same Team they used for H6.

And I agree Ubisoft should  be boycotted in general.

I hope that policy never applies to any other (game) company in any point in time and space.

For really, that's a great way to make one company sink down to the non-existance.

H7 is a confirmed virus, it will destroy your computer, delete all your files and send all your porn to the FBI, including the ones you filmed yourself, when you were trying on a miniskirt and fantasizing about Chad from high school... In that order

They know you still love Chad.

Why don't you phone Chad?
