What games have you completed recently?
Hi it's Homer here
I have played tons of games in my life but not so many all-the-way to the end. How about you? What games have bested say this year? Share your toughs and experiences, good and bad. I'll start:
Dragon Age II on PS3
I have played few similar games on PS3 and this was my favorite of them. Pros: Lot's of skills to choose from, to make unique characters. Option to choose every answer "Yes, No or Whatever" for all cutscenes in the game was nice, giving little different paths to follow. Story and voice acting was decent as most of the time we only get cr*p. Cons: No "New Game+" features, can't trade items for new player you create, like in Diablo 3 you could trade your goodies. Difficulty was too easy but you could change it higher during the game.
Overall it was good game, not perfect. If you like RPG's i recommend to check it out. I'll give it a score strong 8 bananas.
Comment what did you think about the game, or post your own toughs of game you recently completed. Don't write a novel about it tough.

I tried several times to finish a Civilization 5 game but every time I get to Modern Era the game becomes unplayable, almost 4-5 minutes AI turn (medium map, 7 AI + me). Very disappointed and no idea what is triggering such dysfunction, AI has not more units than before, not more cities, is just automatic froze, mostly after Industrialization.

Super Mario 64. After lots of blood sweat and tears, I had achieved 120 stars. ninendo 64 is just the best
The newest game I've played through is xenoblade chronicles. If you like the twelve final fantasy then this is basically that only a little better within a different universe. Cool characters and skills and a actually really great story. Looking forward to the sequel next month.

Still playing Civ 4 BTS here, and I managed a Diplomatic victory in the last game. With Ramesses II of Egypt.
And I also had a very good and more militaristic game before that with a mod enabled for extra civ.
And as for completed games like RPG's, I don't really play them like I used to.

Haven't played Civ 5, but when i had that problem on good-ol-heroes3 good trick was option: don't show enemy moment. No stupid two-way teleport abuses anymore
So is Civ 5 worth it? The first ones are classic.. (Not played them myself that much) Same question has been on my mind for Red Alert 3, is it really worth it.. I don't know.

How many civs do you play with and on what kind of map? I usually play on really teeny maps so there are only 1 or 2 enemy A.I.'s left in the modern era, and I don't get any slow downs.

It is the best civ I have played, its a step away from how civ was played in 3 or 4 though.

Well, my preferred game style is one City Challenge (human can only have 1 city) vs 7 AI all on same team, permanent war. So they are all alive and kicking when in industrial era, its just that suddenly they become very slow, while having same number of cities and same number of billions armies walking toward my city. I never tried to eliminate any of them because less AI you face, less the game is challenging. I like when they are technologically ahead and sending better units.

Could be that the amount of units is too much for the game to handle. When I played civ 4 on earth maps with all civs the game would lag horribly the more were alive.

I think it is more of a lack of optimization about industrial specific graphics (a lot of graphics change when that era). This is because I also suddenly get lag, but there are no AI armies visible, fog of war. Hard to know exactly, I should maybe search in civ fanatics forums, just got lazy about.

My latest venture is Hearts of Iron 3 TFH. My brother gave it to me at Christmas last year, so this was a game I stumbled into. At first look I thought what the heck? He bought this for me? I had only played Heroes for the last few years, other than a dive back into the past here and there.
It's a serious strategy game centered on leading a nation during WWII and one that has really grown on me. It is a micro-game if you want it to be or you can set "something, some stuff or all" on A.I. control. The game has some issues but overall it has captured a lot of hours from me this year...the first game in many years. You can play Majors like Germany or the Soviet Union or pick a side and play a smaller country.

Another game i finished few days ago:
Bravely Default on 3DS
Good old school final fantasy JRPG Visit some crystals, battle some random encounters and in the end save the world for total destruction. Sounds any familiar? Well.. the coolest thing in Bravely Default is the new battle system: Brave and Default. Default is like the old Defense but you get additional move next round when you use it. Brave in other hand let's you use multiple turnsmoves in one round, up to four. For instance you could use: Phoenix Down, Ether, Cure and Attack on same turn. Lot's strategic tricks can planned thanks to this.
Story wise we don't get anything spectacular, the strongest part here are the characters who aren't completely black and white. Good is a point of view, Anakin. Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way, including their quest for greater power. -Darth Sidious.
In the end it get's little repetitive battling same bosses over and over and.. you get the picture. A bit too easy again but you have so much fun that you don't even care, until you reach lv99 and wonder how this ever happened?
I give the game huge 9 bananas

Recently I did not complete King's Bounty: Dark Side. Took me around an year of very sporadic playing to construct the Weapon of Vengeance and then I had to reinstall Windows without backing up the saves. The game started quite well but soon devolved into an endless sequence of grinding and doing errand boy "quests". Not recommended if you're looking for something deeper but decent time sink otherwise.

Yeah, played Kings Bounty for some time aswell. It had some nice Heroes elements but making only quest after another gets kinda dull.. Not for my liking

I've played all Civilization games up until Civ5, every civ game worked nicely until 5, then everything became buggy as hell. I liked Civ5 early on but I learned to dislike it later and I went back to good old Civ 3 again. I have the original Civ II as well, but Civ 3 is my favorite.
As to what I'm playing nowadays, not much of anything really. I am considering do a remake of Civ 3 or a remake of Heroes 2, I don't know which I want to do a remake of, I like both games, but both games also badly need a better engine, both engines sucks. The code in Heroes 3 for example, has got to be some of the worst I've seen in years, you would not only need to fix the bugs in that code, but also fix the nonbuggy code itself.
The problem with developers today is that they don't know what they are doing for the most part. The people who are hired in game studios, they know absolutely nothing about programming, certainly nothing about computers.

What kinda of remakes are you talking about? Completely new or using old models for it or what?
It's good idea, but none of those projects have ever finished Lot to do for one man..

I finished Halo2 on Legendary. I played from 1st October to 7th November. I spent one week on checkpoint with repelling second boarding Covenant ship on the first level learning dual wielding (I bought 5-buttons mouse just for it). This checkpoint turned out the toughest in the whole game. Bit disappointed at the end because I thought it would be one more level on starship. Final boss does't look like final and is not a big challange. After completing game I found out that Energy Sword can do more damage by locking it on enemy... However the game is nice I prefer Halo 1. I hope there will be Master Chief Collection on PC some day to play whole Halo series on PC.
Now playing Heroes 5. Nicolai is ressurrected...

I think that the turnover to ubisoft was a huge mistake, that means the quality of heroes will be doomed pretty much forever. Nothing of what comes out of those factories comes out without bugs, and thats not the entire problem, they don't fix them.
