Star Wars discussion & speculation *SPOILER!*
This entire thread includes spoiler from the latest episode. If you haven't seen it yet, flee. Also, this is a discussion thread, not a review thread. If you haven't watched the movie, or you've watched the movie but thought it sucked, please refrain from posting if you don't have anything to contribute. Ty.
So, a few mysteries floating around that are yet to be revealed:
Who is Rey and where does she come from? During the brief flashback when it shows her as a small child, I heard the voice of the person grabbing her, and it was the same guy that was selling her portions of food at the market (and later sent the thugs to steal the droid from her). He was also the same guy that stole the Millennium Falcon (who stole it from two other people), which Han was in the system tracking down, and detected once it was in space.
Where did Grand Leader Snoke come from (the two previous Sith were killed at the same time). Is he a resurrected ancient Sith? Or more yet, did Luke somehow (inadvertently) play a part in Snoke's emergence?
C3PO's red arm. How does it fit in? It obviously wasn't included arbitrarily. Did Kylo Ren cut if off when he first betrayed them (the event can't be too far in the past because Kylo Ren is quite young). Luke presumably implanted an activation protocol for R2D2 to show the other part of the map. Could he have done something similar with C3PO? Maybe the arm is storing something?
Kylo Ren's struggle between the light and the dark. He goes to his grandfather (Vader) for strength to repel the pull of the light, which hints at the fact that he is unaware that Vader is the one who killed Darth Sidious. Also, in the beginning of the movie (at the camp on Dakku), it shows him turning and looking at Finn, and then boarding his ship. Later, when discussing Poe's escape from the Star Destroyer, Kylo recalls the stormtrooper from the planet and states that he must have been the one to help him escape. In other words, he sensed the stormtrooper's betrayal ahead of time, but chose to walk away. Another hint that there is an internal struggle within him still.
Also, where did Kylo Ren's lightsaber come from? It seems very, very old.
Does Finn also have the force? (perhaps to a lesser degree, or it hasn't awakened yet?)
What is "the Awakening" that Snoke and Kylo Ren were discussing? Is it tied in with Rey's sudden tapping into her own latent powers?

I'm pretty sure Rey is another Skywalker again
Atleast she is daughter of Jedi, maybe Kenobi familyline.

What makes you think Rey is from Ben Kenobi's family line? There is nothing to suggest that, is there?
I suppose it's an awakening of the Force inside people, that may become Jedi or Sith again. Ren wasn't (yet) a Sith, was he?

I think Rey is her own breed. Not any previous character's daughter.

I think Luke is 100% pure good, and Jedi cannot have children so Rey cannot be his daughter. I'm predicting she is Han Solos daughter. She could also understand chewie to seal that deal
Jar jar binks was suppose to be the master behind everything, and it's awesome.
And I heard Kylo Ren actually made his own light saber, which is why it is the way it is. Notice how the blade is kinda 'unstable' in a way. The energy or whatever, goes everywhere. It's hard to make out the actually saber part of it. He didn't do as good a job which is part of his inexperience with the force and the dark side.
I'm not sure which direction Kylo Ren is going, and that's what makes him such an awesome villain. Is he smarter than we all think? Trying to take down Snoke as a double agent? maybe he really killed his father to convince himself (or others, Snoke) that he really is on the dark side. There's a lot of back history we need to be told.

I see it too.
I can see it even more in this:
I sincerely hope they will not go for Sidious as that would be blatantly boring.

The hologram of Snoke didn't show one of those stupid-looking narrow faced aliens, but since that is all non-canonical at this point, maybe he's human. Or they altered the appearance of his species to make them more fit for the big screen.
I think we can be 99.9% certain that Snoke isn't Darth Sidious. That would be offensive.
There's only so many options for what/who he can be. At the end of episode 6 there was literally one trained Jedi left in the galaxy and zero Sith. He might not be Plageius but I think he was resurrected/revived in some way. I don't think he's some dude that read a Sith self-help book and restarted the Dark Side on his own (although it had to start with somebody). I think he's starting anew, without the rule of 2. Kylo is a Knight of Ren, not a Sith.
I predict that Skywalker will be fighting more than one Knight at a time in the next episode (similar to the 2v1 Darth Maul encounter).
(I'm still slightly in bro-mourning that the new episodes don't involve Admiral Thrawn)

Its interesting what kind of lightsaber will wield Rey? Will it be single, two sabers or one with dual blades? And what color?
Luke is old and the last. Will he die like Kenobi transferring power to her? She seems to have great raw power in force. Will she be so powerful user of force like some Jedi of the Old Republic? How do you think?

It would be cool if Rey used lightsaber staff like Maul. New force weapons would be great also, whip, spears and curved sabers, why don't we see these on the movies
Hope we do in future

I now presume Rey to be Leia and Han's child, same as Ren. The Force awakens in her. Leia didn't become a Jedi, but her daughter might. And Ben/Kylo Ren will probably tap into the Dark Side but be defeated and possibly redeemed... much like Anakin.
And Luke will be to Rey what Yoda was to him.
We'll see.

Did this First Order's Iron Maiden survive destruction of Starkiller Base? Will we see her again? As First Order officer or baunty haunter? Is she Boba Fett's daughter?

Kathleen Kennedy (CEO of Lucasfilm) confirmed that Gwendoline Christie will be back in Episode VIII, so Phasma iscoming back. Moreover, I believe that her pursuit of revenge on Finn will be one the main plot points in the whole movie.
Speaking of Rey's lightsaber - I would love to see her lighsaber being implemented into her staff, similar to ones that Shadow Guards and Darth Plagueis had. This weapon became a part of Rey's character, just like Chewbacca's bowcaster and it would be a shame if such an opportunity to introduce an unorthodox lightsaber design to the main public would be missed. Additionally, they could give Rey some nice, new lightsaber colour, but this is way less probable than previous wish...

I don't think it's improbable at all. I expect a light staff in the next episode or the one thereafter. I would like yellow (sentinel), but it will probably be blue or green.
They've already shown with Kylo Ren that they're not afraid to depart from standard light sabers. They're adding a bit of a medieval/antique atmosphere to the movie moreso than the original episodes, which is a feature I like quite a lot.
Rey needs a two handed weapon if she's going to duel Kylo Ren again. They didn't ignore the difference in strength between Rey as a skinny girl and Kylo as a larger man. I'm proud of them for that. She kept getting knocked down/back when he was striking her high. I think the staff would be similar to Darth Maul's, except maybe a large middle section for her to hold onto with both hands.

I think having different colors for different classes and ranks or what they call them is cool. And I do think some characters need special kinds of lightsabers, definitely. I would not mind seeing a Jedi with a lightsaber like old Maul's.

Some thoughts about Starkiller Base:
Nice idea of military installation and some nice natural scenario for lightsaber duel in snow scenery in woods...however is there any other concept or shape for space facility than sphere with superweapon?
Third time Siths turned out stupid and clumsy planning installation unprepared for an assult of handful of starfighters.
How would Starkiller Base defend itself against major assult of Republic fleet if it charges its weapon 20-30 minutes and only so if a star is nearby?
The amount of resources and work to build it would be equal to build thousands of super-star-destoyers (or dozens of death
stars) with or without superweapon like Malevolence from first season of Clone Wars had. Such a fleet would be much more effective even for dooming planets.
Did Starkiller base use artificial wormholes to shoot through them?
How many worlds were destroyed? and which ones? Coruscant? others? will the next episode be in apocaliptic scenery of destroyed worlds?
Snoke didn't worry to much about lost of Starkiller Base? Do you think he has another? again ten times larger than previous one? or it was the last one?
Do you think Republic have new version of starfighter (X-Wing II or other ) and these X-Wings were given to Ressistance as the last left from past just not to reveal secret assisstance of Republic?
TIE Fighters still shining not like junky Millenium Falcon. Are there no other TIE's (interceptors) or other left?
TIE fighters were not good enough to fight X-Wings.

Hm. predicting future star wars... Let me try.
Disney bought Star Wars, and has already proven that they won't follow George Lucas' exact plan. All the expanded universe isn't considered cannon, nor is it thrown out the window, just on the shelves for now.
What do we know about Disney so far?
-Disney wants to make $
-Disney includes the standard quantified irony and politically correct themes
-Disney likes to bring us to memory lane quite often
-Disney brings just enough changes to give their movies a different look. As in barely enough. Just a little. Yeah.
Snoke = Darth Plagueis? Yeah, sounds possible. He had ways to create life, and it would be a trip down memory lane, while a new name is that little "different" touch. If not, then who is he? The expanded universe suggests that the force may come from outside the galaxy, in uncharted territories. He could very well be from over there and thus create even more questions when that is discovered, which will just hook people even more for the next movies.
Rey the daughter of Luke, or granddaughter, or someone else that's famous? Yeah, gotta add irony, even if it's an overused plot twist.
Either way, it's my belief that George Lucas copied his force concept from the Dungeon and Dragon faith system, only difference is, he never explains anything about it. The good and evil side of the force will never fully extinguish, as when only few "worshippers" ( dungeon and dragon term here ) are left, the "god" ( the force ) can give them his full attention, so no side will ever really win.
What I can really predict is that it's always gonna be the point of view of the good guys, going through problems and emerging victorious, because Disney is a four quadrant money sucker with no real style.
