NEW VERSION RELEASED: v0.31
- Added: Custom icon.
- Updated: Shoes compiler from 3.30 to 3.31.
Basically this release is just for people who has issues with the application. It seems that the GUI packager can include the latest Ruby Shoes version only if it is packaged via command line. Now this is fixed.
Download the new version and try now.

Anyone else who has the same problem first try directly with this exe file.
It has the EXE only and it will download the compiler straight from the internet (only the first time).
let me know if it works.
If it doest just do what Mario said.
Now it works! Thanks, looks awesome!
I'm looking into making an in-game version for MMH5.5, I'm not sure it's doable, but I'm investigating.

Which variant works?
I think I know whats up.
Windows 8 and 10 has something called UAC (user access control).
Basically it prevents apps from doing unauthenticated changes on the pc.
It prevents the app from working cause it does some work on the background (installs compiler if needed).
Disable it!

Believe me, it's not that.
The external shoe thingy and the small skill wheel exe worked for me.

The list of unobtainable skills for classes:
Twilight - Knight, Paladin, Ranger, Warden, Seer, Engineer, Runemage. All of them can't learn Dark Magic.
Arcane Omniscience - Seer. Can't learn Dark Magic.
Absolute Protection - Flamekeeper. Can't learn Shatter Dark.
Chieftain, Veteran and Shaman can't learn Power of Speed, Power of Endurance and Celestial Shield.
Also it should show arrows for skills with extra requirements akin to vanilla skill wheel.

Hi dredknight, great work.
Windows10 x64 here, v0.31 does not install. UAC always disabled.
It worked when I installed shoes first and then the smaller skillwheel.

Well, I have an idea...perhaps it can be integrated, or perhaps this is what you're doing. Let me just talk and then you can tell me what's up.
My concern with HoMM 5's original Skill Wheel is that it's very limiting and one-dimensional. I mean this on several different levels...
1. Too much emphasis on secondary skills in general in order to acquire specialty skills.
My concern here is that very often it's not my picking skills out of strategy that is occurring, but the skills pick themselves in order to acquire goals. While there's always some skills that are better than others in any game, the differentiation between two choices needs to be less severe.
2. Too much emphasis on a particular specialty skill in order to acquire other specialty skills. For example, Navigation is pretty much always a goner in the Logistics set, both because it isn't that great by itself, but also because it doesn't lead to any of the other specialty skills in Logistics. I understand the notion of trade-off for rewards, but in many secondary skills, I can't see any good reason why *any* of the three main specialty picks should lead on to one of the greater specialty picks, if not a different system altogether.
3. Too much blending. E.G. it's difficult to imagine a Warlock not focusing on Destruction to a certain degree, specifically because a Warlock's unique skill emphasizes it. I see this as a *reduction* of strategic picking, not an improvement upon it. I guess this comment is similar to #1, although this is a case where is not a *set* of skills that we're looking at, but merely blending between the Hero's main skill and one skill in particular.
4. Ultimates.
Quite frankly, I just think ultimates should be removed from the game. I just can't take a game seriously that has super moves like this...and forces you to take a specific path to get to them. You either destroy everything if you get the Ultimate first, or get decimated if you don't, and all the while you don't even get to pick and interesting set of skills for the sake of FUN if you also want to have FUN with your Ultimate. A frustrating design.
This is besides the fact that some Ultimates (like the Knight's) just plain suck.
5. Balance. Obviously this is an issue...some numbers just plain need changing, and this has nothing to do with the skill wheel in particular. I see this more as a community effort to balance the game in general than a Skill Wheel matter.
All this being said, I'm not entirely sure how this relates to the Skill Wheel's design in the end, other than to say that the original is lacking something. I guess I can mention that one thing I never have cared for in H5 is the Hero skills in particular, because they're too limiting for Town blending (while I usually used a town-appropriate Hero in H3, often I didn't, and it was fun...this just doesn't work in H5, and is sad).
Anyways, could you comment on my comments? If I know what you're up to, and especially if it has anything to do with specifically balancing the Skill Wheel and making it more strategically-inclined, I might be interesting in helping out with the main project.
Cheers!
