As Missy finished the three made their way to the keep. Once there, they were stopped by the guards and Narsila handed the small, coin-like object and told them the name she had given the day before. They were then all three escorted up to the top and into a corridor where they were asked to wait outside what they figured was the Generals office.

Amanda thought the man meant Zayl was a group, before realizing he referred to himself as "we".
"I am honored. And, as the captain said, it would be best to go to that recruitment office. Maybe we can find some supplies, armor, weapons or even a survivor." Amanda saddles down from Schwarz, who licks her on the face, then her throat.
Amanda tied Schwarz to a log and moved two steps away. "What a strange horse." - Amanda commented.

- There won't be any survivors. Not after what we saw. The recruitment office is nearly intact only due to it being built out of stone brick.- Zayl said as he unplugged the cork of his wineskin. He took a few gulps from it.
- Still, wouldn't hurt to check it.- He said as silverish energy enveloped his right arm, eventually forming a blade. Zayl unsheathed his kindjal as well. He proceeded to move towards the recruitment office.

"True enough. But I still wonder, why would the town be deserted? I mean even if the attackers used Void magic, the guardsmen could've killed some, right? Then why would they use Void magic on dead corpses? Even if there was just one giant beast that attacked, there would've been signs of the battle, like weapons lying around." Amanda voiced her worries, seeing this situation makes little sense.

In... my youth I studied magic, read all about it. This is a very rare case of mass soul magic used to manipulate the populace of the town to, well, burn it down. If that's true, and you'll see that it is, we need to see what happened with those people. Whoever managed to pull this off knew what to do from the beginning, and probably knew how to dispose of the townsfolk before the magic effects wore off."

The recruitment office was left fully intact, nothing's changed since the day Gulston arrived in Connin apart from the fact that it was now completely empty. Gulston looked around the desk where the scribe was sitting - everything was in place: the ink, quill, the papers and the badges.
"Nothing here yet. I'll check the drawers. Any luck on your side?"

Gulston rummaged through the drawers.
"I think I've found something over here. These are registration papers; they're sorted by the date they were written. Let me check for mine", Gulston said as he browsed the papers.
"Ha, there it is. So, according to the dates given here, the last registration was written two days ago. That corresponds with the incident here. It is for some woman Lletha Suth. Says here she's in her late fifties and... a Mebruan, but it doesn't say where she was born. And... she's adept in using various magics, including shadowmancy. Says here that she has red hair, a "cheerful face" and is taller than an average woman. I believe we should go and look for this woman; she might just be the one responsible for this."

She looks under the bed and finds a sword. "Hm, I can definitively read *Mebrua* on the hilt of the sword. Even more, it is drenched in blood. I can only someone discovered our red-haired *friend* had been plotting to make a nasty plan. In retaliation, she likely stabbed that person before the whole town disappeared. Have you found anything else?"

After a short while the door opened and a few soldiers walked passed them as a voice inside mentioned for them to come in, which they did.

Grand General Athard Gerey stood in the middle of the chamber, facing the entrance door as the trio entered. If he was intrigued by the small group he saw, he didn't show it.
"I am not well versed in dealing with nobles, so I'll be blunt", he began, "My men tell me you, a noble of sorts, wished to speak to me. State your business, madam."
"We should get going then", Gulston said, "We've still got to search the docks."
With that, he walked outside, still holding the registrations of him and this suspicious Mebruan woman.
