If you want land, the king himself must make the decision and grant you that right. Besides, what could you possibly have to offer that Karston doesn't already have? Soldiers? Gold? Weapons? We already have that covered."

"Can I really? Oh, thank you, thank you, I've been practicing this for years!" Missy said as she jumped excitedly.
She looked around, walked to the far wall and turned to face the room.
"Ok everyone, stand back!"
Missy closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths. Slowly, she raised her hands forward. Then she raised them high above her head. Suddenly she opened her eyes, took a few quick steps forward and did a perfect triple cartwheel, finishing with her hands in the air and a huge innocent smile on her face.
"TA-DA!"

Athard Gerey took a deep breath. "I trully have no time for this nonsense", he said in a tired voice, "War is upon us, and you come here to perform acrobatics and expect a title in return. Men, escort these women outside and make sure they do not disturb me. As a matter of fact, make sure no one enters my chambers except the officers until I say so myself; I have to finish the battle plan."
With those words, the general retreated into his private chambers and shut the door behind him.

Amanda went outside and went to the docks. As expected, there were destroyed boats, but she suspects this red-haired woman could've taken one to sail off from the island. However, she wonders if there are any sailors that saw the incident from the sea itself.

A handful of ships sat anchored at the docks, while the only undamaged one was stationed off the shore. A small dinghy could be seen approaching the land with a couple of men rowing. They disembarked in front of Amanda.
"Ahoy there, lass", one of them said, "What might ye be doin' in this ruin?"

"I am a member of the Karston army. We are doing here an official investigation of the attack." Amanda shouted, as she showed her badge. "Have you seen the attack on the town? Did you notice any Karston boats sailing around? Come to think of it, what business do you have here?" Amanda placed her hand at the scabbard, ready to attack, if needed.

"What business? Are ya joking, lass", the sailor spat, "There be no business in this wreck o' the town! We just arrived 'ere, an' the captain sent us to see what's 'appenin'. Guess we be sailin' to port Teftee now."
The sailor turned around, gestured the other one to get on the dinghy and they rowed away back to their ship.
Gulston watched this from the distance, leaning against a stone pillar. As the sailors went away, he approached Amanda. "That's a merchant ship, from Tribilia", he said in a softer tone than usual, "Best we go back to the cart and head over to repor-"
Suddenly he stopped and changed his expression from the usual relaxed to stiff. His eyes suddenly widened.
"There's a body there", he exclaimed, "Under the pier!"
Gulston rushed down, under the boards, just off the edge of the water and grabbed the corpse by the arm, then dragged it up to dry land. This was a corpse of a child, not older than ten.
"Find Zayl and bring him here quickly."

Zayl was just exiting the recruitment office, when he was told to come to the dockside.
The dockside reeked of old fish, as it seemed the attackers didn't bother to loot the town at all. The mix of smoke and fish wasn't the most pleasant.
He saw Gulston dragging out a body of a boy onto the pier.
- Hmfph. So we guess those that did this forgot to get rid of the pup's remains.- Zayl said while covering his face with his headscarf turned facemask. - Did he drowned or was murdered?

"Drowned", Gulston replied, "but that is weird, don't you think? There are no corpses in the town, and here we find this boy and... I think I got it."
He paused for a moment.
"They were thrown into the water. All of them. I bet we'll find more washed-up corpses down the shore. This one got close to the land before dying, but didn't make it any further, and I'm sure at least a few others did so, too."

- They ran out of stones or something?- Zayl said while examining the boy's body. The corpse wasn't even bound in ropes.
- Not even sure what we should make of all this. If adepts of Soulmancy are involved, they must be pretty powerful to pull off an attack like this.

Indeed, they are powerful, these attackers, but also numerous. A whole town - every single citizen and soldier that was here - all gone, presumably led into the sea. That can only be done by a large group of soulmancers. A very large group."
Gulston, found himself in the same spot he was when he first landed in Connin. This time around there were ashes and ruin where houses once stood. A feeling of dread went through him as he made his way to the cart.

It didn't take long for Amelia to return having chased down a wagon willing to take them to the destroyed port and they were soon on their way.
"Dear", Narsila looked at Missy. "When we get to Connin I would like to see your magic"

Gulston stood, completely motionless for a moment, then faced Zayl.
"Fear? No, no... I just... want to return to Geham for the gold."
He was lying and he knew it, but his pride wouldn't let him admit that. Gulston took a sip from the wineskin, then returned it to Zayl.
"We've gotten all of the information we could. I'd hate to stay here any longer. The smell of smoke and the town stench mixed, I don't feel too happy about it."

"Agreed. Let me talk to the captain, first." Amanda turns around and waves her hand. Soon, the captain and Logan arrives on their horses.
"Have you found anything?" the captain was anxious to hear any reports.
"Yes. We have discovered that the attack was held by people, who were experts in Soul Magic. They managed to take control of them, and throw them into the sea." Amanda points at the lifeless body of a boy. "We also know a certain woman of Mebruan origin, named Lletha Suth, joined the military a few days before this all happened. Also, here's a bloody Mebruan sword." Amanda took out the sword and showed it to the captain.
"At least we know the fates of these people. I only hope we won't see these scenes too often. Come then, let's report to the fort. You, Logan, stay here and try talking with these merchants." the captain waved his hand, as Amanda came on Schwarz.
She turned to the mercenaries: "Well, amidst all of this despair, it was good working with you two, master Zayl and mister Gulston. I think our paths will cross again, sometime later. But duty comes first."

"Weeeell... my teacher did say that people don't like seeing my magic and that I should never use it without his permission..." Missy replied in a worried voice, then continued with her usual cheery attitude, "but he's dead now and you're my friend so I guess it's ok!"
