A mod to change Heroes VII music by Heroes IV music?

Hey, why not? Heroes IV has the best fairy OST in the series. Songs, chants, folk instruments, epic and soft... dreamy! And we can ear again with the free DLC : "Lost Tales of Axeoth".

So, I wonder if it's not too difficult to replace the Heroes VII ost by the Heroes IV (Lost Tales of Axeoth). A mod should be great, what do you think?

If i remember correctly the music is actually tied to the map, so replacing H7s music with H4s isn't exactly just a file swap.

God why do you want to tarnish h4's OST by putting it into that atrocious game?

Anyway shouldn't be too hard, probably something along the lines of: extract Music.upk, replace files, repack, and voilą (just pray for no bugs or crashes, meh it will happen anyway). Good luck!

I tried this exact thing, no crash but no music either. Probably requires some triggers or events or stuff I have no clue of.

You need to relink all the terrain dependencies. The grass music plays when you step on the grass terrain which has its own archetype (same for town music) where you can set music AKEvent (as seen in the LtoA).

Unfortunately I am unable to make AKEvents/Libraries work. The only one who can is LizardWarrior.

You need Wwise to make soundbanks from common formats. Luckily udk has wwise integrated. Here's a tutorial on how to add sounds from wwise directly into udk, also here's a tutorial on how to make sound banks and events in Wwise. If you are wondering what "Ak" stands for is from Audiokinetic, the company that developed Wwise.

It's probably the only thing I can do. But if this don't work...

Other solutions are too technical for me.
