...What I think of it? I see no harm. It's ok for identification and discipline, similar in lines to the Army. Some bullying might also be suppressed if other children won't judge their fellows by their clothing.

But still, I think uniforms should be mandatory in all schools, private or public, doesn't matter. because discipline and crap. You don't go in the army with some random milsurp crap(except maybe Ukraine, but that's another story), now do you? And as Pandadude mentoned, it does help reduce bullying based on social status, even if it's by a tiny margain.

I believe uniforms display a form of social maturity and conformity....I fear for the west that in its pursuit of narcissism and individuality, important values like unity and conformity will be lost.

Good points gentlemen.

In the U.S. I never wore uniforms and frankly would have detested the change.(kids will be kids)  However, what I did wear in school were hand-me-downs from older cousins till the 6th grade and because of those older-clothes that were often quite out of style, what I was forced to wear because of being poor, was often the butt of jokes from brutal, self-centered & pampered class-less class-mates.

The idea that wearing a simple, confortable uniform makes kids into future State-cadets is utter nonsense. Indoctrination is done by Teachers executing State-mandates and that can and is now pushed without dress-codes.

I observed poor kids wearing expensive Nike Air-Jordans while living in a small and poor home. So because there was no "leveling of student looks" poor parents were spending money they could not afford in trying to make their children not stand out like a sore thumb...which of course is futile and the kids became "neon-lit" because of the generally make-do clothes but wearing fabulous shoes.

Schools should not be an advertisement-zone for Consumerism, nor Wealth. The time in any Educational Institution should be entirely focused on learning not looks. The students will have plenty of time later to be sucked in and propagandized by an entire Society, wrapped up Images that are all about "how you look" behind little interest or discipline in how you conduct yourself socially.
