Locations of Edited Maps Windows 7
Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct location. If not, can someone recommend a better place to ask my question?
After loading the game onto my W7 system, I used the Map Editor to change a few maps but was having problems with the script function (it kept crashing). I therefore altered my Map Editor program to work as an XP S2 program (in the incompatibilities tab). However, W7 has hidden the files I edited before I changed the compatibility. So now, even when I edit a map I previously edited, when I load the game it always/only recognizes the first map.
Ug, I'm not explaining this well. For some reason W7 hid the edited maps I made prior to changing the compatibility. I believe this has something to so with W7's dynamic file folder system. All I want at this point is to find and delete those hidden maps so I can play the new maps. Doing a "Search" only returns the new map files, but when I load the game, it only recognizes the old map files.
Thanks.

I do not know if it will help you, but in my case (Windows10) temporary game files are located in the location:
"C:Users-Mariusz-AppData-Local-VirtualStore-Program Files (x86)-Ubisoft-Heroes of Might and Magic V - Dzikie Hordy" (There are folders: bin, data, Editor, Maps, Profiles)
Search the disk including hidden folders.

Hello JagoBC,
I am running with Windows 10 and I have the same problem as you do - script editor within the Map Editor keeps crashing.
Maps are also saved in a "VirtualStore" folder just like Mario.
What I do is I open the map with Winrar and edit the script file using Notepad.
Hope this helps.

Right-click Editor short-cut icon and run as Administrator?
Background
Here's what I discovered a long time ago with Win7
1. When I made most of my maps, the issue you described did not exist.
2. Sometime after I increased the security but turning the UAC (user-account control) on and setting it to "recommended" and saw something similar to what you described...i.e. tiny locked-icons next to the map name.
3. To navigate this bit I found that if I made a map with (UAC) off = easy to see & reload but UAC-active = I experienced the same.
4. <imo> Later this stuff was made worse at some point by a Win-update and my solution was to always save my map to a flash-drive and work on later from the stick. No problems afterwards and + you have your many hours of hard work...Saved outside the machine.

Strange, is there more information about this error?
It is simply not clear what the fall is due to and therefore it is difficult to understand what exactly the reason for the fall is. Try reinstalling the game and do it using a third-party uninstaller to get rid of the residual files and then perform a clean installation, should help.
I can recommend you a couple of uninstallers at: https://thinkmobiles.com/blog/best-uninstallers/
