Announcing: Gladiator Arena
GLADIATOR ARENA
OPEN (JOIN AT ANY TIME!)
Are you tired of being a peasant? Do you have enough of ppl looking down on you?
Do you want men to envy you and ladies to cheer you on?
Then become a GLADIATOR and show the world your bravery and fighting spirit in the arena!
Take your shot at becoming a champion and earn yourself (nearly) eternal glory!
-- Basic Idea --
The goal is to become the champion by having the longest win-streak out of all Gladiators!
You can join or leave the arena at any time - no commitment, no pressure
R U L E S
-- set up --
The matchmaking works via the GA page:
Gladiator Arena
Every rule for the matchmaking is already implemented in the site,
so feel free to just challenge who ever you are able to challenge
Every gladiator(participant) will be ranked by the length of their >current< winning-streak. A gladiator can challenge any other gladiator that is his "neighbour" (one lvl above, below or same lvl)
in the ranking-list.
The challenged gladiator receives a message on discord from the Ladderbot, where he can accept or decline the challenge.
Once a gladiator has found himself an opponent,
its time to pick map and hero.
The higher ranked player gets to veto 2 maps, the lower ranked player may choose the map from the remaining ones.
Afterwards, you pick your hero.
You can never repeat a hero that you ve already played in your current win-streak.
In case both chose the same hero, this hero gets dismissed and both choose again.
Once map and hero are chosen, the Ladderbot will announce the match with players, heroes and map on discord.
Game version:
Every game will be played on the newest version of H5.5.

MMH55_64.exe is the .exe that will be used for the games.
lan setup:
The games will be played via Gameranger.
How to set up GameRanger
settings:
ghost mode: no
quick combat: no
autosafes: yes
simultanous turns: yes
difficulity: impossible (unless both agree on a diffrent difficulity or the map states a diffrent default difficulity, see map-pool)
animation speed: 5
dynamic battles: off
6 Skills (or 8, if both agree)
-- in-game rules --
reloads:
Reloads can be bought for (500+100*current_day)*(#reload-1) gold.
The gold is sent to your enemy on the same day the reload is taken.
If multiple reloads are taken in a single turn,
obviously you also need to pay for the previous reloads again.
Example:
First reload always cost 0, because #reload-1 = 0.
A third reload at day 24 would cost:
(500+24*100)*2= 5.8k gold
A reload can not be used to change player interactions.
Any player interactions will be redone exactly as before.
This also applies to actions where there is no fight,
but one player effected the other anyway.
An example would be grabbing an artifact or a creep faste than the
opposing player. The same player gets the artifact/creep again.
Exception: A player may use a reload to change the outcome of the garrison fight on DE.
-- disconnects --
After a disconnect, the last safe will be loaded.
I see this can be abused to cheat your way to free reloads - please just dont, we are all here to have a fun time.
As for reloads, a disconnect can never change player interactions.
-- draw --
Have never seen one happen, but in case you guys manage it:
There are no draws.
If the game is not decided within 3 months,
a neutral ground equally reachable for both players is agreed upon (if you can't agree, i ll decide).
A final deciding fight will happen at the beginning of day 1, week 2, month 4 (no more reinforcements on that day).

Let's Fight
A small map with a rich center.
Simular starting positions.
2 towns per player.
DeadlyEnvironment
Bigger than Let's Fight with a more "lategame-like" final fight.
Rich underground.
Creeps can be heavy, choose your battles.
Mirrored starting positions.
3 towns per player.
CrossingRivers
Somewhere between Lets Fight and DeadlyEnvironment in size.
Rich creeping areas on islands.
Simular starting positions.
2 towns per player.
GreenEye
This is the biggest map in the pool.
Rich underground and especially rich center island.
Simular starting positions.
3 towns per player.
Jebus
ARMG map using the following parameters:
jebus template
Large
No ug/water
very strong monsters
little ressources
Exp: 4
This map will have heroic as its default difficulity.
You can download all the maps at

Note: The map pool is small by choice. This is to make preparation easier for people not knowing the maps.
I have not added any timelines for turns or games overall.
In case this gets abused, i will do so, but i hope we can manage it without that

Also, right before the arena opens, some minor changes will be made:
Now the challenger will choose the map!
Why wasnt this the way from the start? - because i feared people would only play the map they know, never looking at diffrent maps.
How will this be prevented now?
As a challenger, you can not choose the same map twice in a row.
Also, this change allows us to widen the map-pool slightly,
as a challenger doesnt have to prepare all maps at once
With that said, a new map enters the mappool:
JebusArena (mapfile at discord)
The JebusArena is a (slightly tweaked) armg map using the jebus template.
parameters:
jebus template
Large
No ug/water
very strong monsters
little ressources
Exp: 4
This map will have heroic as its default difficulity setting.
Also, given the diffrent starting location, this map will have an auction to determine who decides on who gets which colour.

Yes, that is exactly how it works, so there is no problem when you realize you dont have time when your match starts
Also, you dont need to have time on a specific date - its okay if you guys take a week or so to finish your match

The stay at the top was barely long enough to take a deep breath of the fresh air up there. As quickly as he rises, he falls.

On the last match by the end i was ahead of Frogo, so the last fight wasn't as interesting as some of the fights against creeps. Unfortunately, I did take rather boring skillset which was all around stunning strike and slowing my enemy with priests so he never moves. (it's op imo)
I will make sure to remember to save some of the interesting battles in the future, whether final fights or some breaks/banks
