Rose water gives foods a fragrance to them. It is actually really potent so you take a small amount and dilute it in pure water, and then I add the soy milk after the quinoa is all-but cooked.

I had a tall glass of hot green tea mixed with soy milk and honey.

My second bowl of the polenta & mushroom was much tastier. I was hungry and didnt let the cornmeal firm up at first so it was too runny.

Italian Fontina (French version: fontal cheese) has an amazing rich & buttery taste. I slice it thin and it will melt on top if the cornmeal is already hot.

i prefer almond milk over soy milk(i can only deal with chocolate soy milk). if you substituted the two, i wouldn't mind eating something you cooked with it. it sounds like you actually enjoy cooking. me, i gotta be in the mood. i'm a lazy cook, for the most part.

Despite Kip's affectionate new name he gave me, I probably have foods with soy maybe a few times a month total. If I buy a carton I naturally have to use it, so it will be incorporated into several meals, and then I wont buy it again for awhile. I'm too particular to eat something over and over. Even something really straightforward like eggs I will take periodic breaks from.

Soy milk tastes inferior out of the carton compared to cow milk or flaxseed/nut varieties, but the buttery taste goes really well with something like polenta, and I pair it with the fontina which also has a buttery taste. The veggie broth is simply for flavor since polenta (grits) is extremely boring in itself. It is a base ingredient that you need to flavor. Of course, it is when I dump the pile of portabella mushrooms sauteed with large chunks of garlic that the dish goes into supersaiyan mode and kills everybody in the room.

So... I decided to take a less orthodox pizza (but still an accepted one by the high Sicilian cuisine council), spicy salami, 'nduja and olives.

That pizza was done like it was supposed to be done, hard grain flour, tomato sauce that hugged the dough without seeping too much, proper mozzarella, with the little addition (sanctioned of course) of that bloody spicy 'nduja that made my mouth burn with pleasure.

Bloody loved that place.

That brings my fondest memories, the joys of eating lasagne for Christmas or for my birthday, I haven't yet found anyone that can make a better lasagna than my mother.

It's been too long, my mother basically stopped cooking it, and something always happens on my birthday, so she doesn't even have the excuse. Why was it so easy to find an occasion for my mother to cook lasagne when I was a lil kid?

Why in the hell don't you just ask her? Why would you both stay silent about something you both want?
