3, that's a lot of money for W40K miniatures. Not that I claim to understand the intricacies of figurine price ranges, hoarding them has never been my thing.

Count wins. I've been wanting an Imperial Knight with some third party bits (the wolf's head from shapeways) for a long time, it is one of their best walker models.
GW kits are expensive, because with them, you get a ton of extra bits to make other models than what's on the box art (monsters and vehicles) or to customise your troops with different guns and such. For the most part, as it seems AoS kits, the big kits, are cheaper than 40k ones of roughly the same size.
Compared to regular military scale models, where you only get one vehicle. The Comanche Helicoper I built recently is only that, the heli, the only options you have is to model it either landed or flying, and with missile pylons added.
That, and they pretty much are the monopoly of miniature wargames, as everyone and their grandmother knows what Warhammer is. Nobody knows what for example Bolt Action is. And those kits are way cheaper when compared to GW.

Once the topic comes up I always say the same thing, I'd love to get myself an army of Space Marines and one of the Tau.
Too bad I'd literally have to spend more than for my uni fees. Suddenly cosplay becomes a cheap endeavour.

The starter kits on the GW webstore is up to 100 brussels roubles, it's basically few kits in one bundle.

Oh but I already looked at those, I was actually about to buy a starter pack back when I went to a trip in Bongland (There are next to no GW shops here). But I feel like that's not enough for me, so I'd have to spend at the very least 300 Franc Marks, and that is for the basics, imagine if I wanted some COs or worse, heroes.
And then Warhammer Fantasy decided to throw everything to the ground and went with ground marines. I would have loved an Imperial or Bretonnian army.
