The Pizza Duce is right.
Baikal is my favourite soft drink. an upgrade to cola with a pine aroma and aftertaste. Gooseberry soda is second.
Tarchun is not my thing, same for cream soda, although I do drink them on ocassion.
Cola is inferior to Baikal, and I'm not slav enough to classify beer as a soft drink.

That sounds like our own chinotto, which is like cola but more citrus/orange flavoured.

I know this was an hard ball, except for Alighieri and Machiavelli I don't know how much the rest are known.
Torquato Tasso is my favourite, he wrote the Freed Jerusalem (La Gerusalemme Liberata), which is basically the First Crusade on fantasy steroids, and that's awesome, you basically have Saracens using magic and the Crusaders fighting witches, plus Tasso was supposedly schizophrenic, and he paired it with a truly engrossing style of writing.
Also, one of the protagonists is Tancred of Hauteville, so there's a bit of bias due to him coming from the family who freed Sicily.
