[HotA] Upgrading Specialty
I've been playing a SoD map called Lord of the Rings 3.2 where your first hero is Gandolf/Dracon and then the author suggests you trade him for Aragorn/Gelu and another hero you get a bit latter is Legolas/Kyrre. Even in this special conditions where you basically have the upgradable creatures and the level 7 ones, I miss the good specialties and was tempted to make Legolas my main but he comes with predifined secondary skills, including Eagle Eye and Scouting.
While I've used these kind of specialties to make some of the most overpowered heroes I've ever played with (in Wog), like upgrade skeletons and liches to bone dragons or upgrade red and green dragons to azure, I feel Bidley isn't even a good hero except in the sense that Ivor is (you start with a bunch of useful units) and some others could be added or these ones could be available without great prejudice to the game (only Gelu as a ranger seems a bit over the top but that's because Rampart already has the best specialties distribution of all towns).
Opinions, please.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but in their original state (not WoG) I would consider Gelu and Dracon broken and Logistics specialists are as everyone knows also extremely good. If they are burdened by less atractive skills like Eagle Eye and Scouting, that will of course make them less atractive, but making Sharpshooters or Enchanters is a very strong ability.
Haven't tried the map you mention, so don't know anything about it.

It's a strange map, author qualifies it as Expert and it is extremely well designed and has a quite original approach, where you only have the upgraded level 7 (Archangels and Gold Dragons) and the monks, archers and elves, so you are forced to bet on shooters for an eternity.
What I'm finding strange is the absence of spells, I got Blind just a few turns ago, with Legolas Eagle Eye, even if I already have Town Portal for quite some time ( ) but besides level one I basically don't have any spells, so until now fights are based on casting Slow, baiting (I even keep one angel unupgraded just for that...) and rapidly kill all enemy shooters or quite muscular. I'm still waiting for the spells to use tricks like destroy catapult and keep enemies inside the town, hide shooters behind Force Field, etc...
But the map made me realize how weak Dracon and Gelu really are as main heroes, so what I'm asking is about making them available (Wog has a feature for this "Allow extension heroes", where you can't start with them but they may appear in tavern) and maybe create some new ones, perhaps closer to Bidley then to Gelu (when you have Castles Gelu is quite powerful, 18 Sharpshooters a week are something, Dracon is not that good, specially if what you have are Castles and not Towers...). Some new upgraded creatures would sound nice to me, most of all a neutral mid-level flier.

For instance, have a neutral level 4 flier and two heroes, one Knight and one Witch that could upgrade respectively Griffins and Serpent Flies to that creature.

Yeah I guess that would be possible, you would have to invent the neutral level 4 flier first though.

I have no idea for the name but I have some for the creature skills: 30 of life, 13 of speed, casts Dispel and retaliates every time. Too OP?
But I don't want to create it myself, that is easy in WoG but I really wanted something for HotA, to go with all these new neutrals. With a fast level 4 flier you could make armies of neutrals without any moral penalty.

Hmm so you combined abilities of Royal Griffins and Dragonflies, well I don't know if it would be OP, but it sure sounds like a nice unit.
Neutral units generally also lack speed I think and I wish neutral creature buildings could appear randomly.
