HOMM 4 GAME of the YEAR ?
hmm just thinking maybe it could be Game of the year maybe strategy of the year.. what u all think?

Are you disregarding the fact that 3do released the Beta version to the public?
memory leak, lots of bugs, no multiplayer..? how can any game be even considered if it has all these problems. You can ask anyone, I was 1 of the few who said give heroes 4 a chance, but after a few weeks of playing it, I cant stand it no more. So I wait for both patches to come to see if Ill like it again.

well all game got lots of bugs (in 1st version) the multiplayer things is ... 3do wanted to relase game even that multiplayer wasnt ready ... if the wasnt relase it ... u now was still playing homm 3 but i got homm 4 and i'm HAPPY

I think "Game of the Year" is out of the question. Reviewers have rated it highly, it averages about 8.8 in most reviews but it's time that reviewers stop rating games until they are completed. I dont care if they want to call it a Preview, thats ok, but not a review. Most of the reviewers didnt even mention the multiplayer lack.
The soul of the Heroes series is multiplayer, single players buy games too but the reason the Heroes franchise continues is because of multiplayers. Single players didnt play Heroes 1,2,3 hundreds or even thousands of times but we did.
Heroes 4 can be a good game if properly patched but we dont have any guarantee that will happen. We hope it will. If 3DO decided to save the money and not patch the game there is nothing we could do about it. Then what would that 8.8 rating be worth?
We have no need for reviewers like this. At one time, a few years ago, reviewers acted as our representatives with honest and fair reviews. Apparently those days are gone.
I love the Heroes series and I will wait for the patch to come out. But I am disappointed with 3DO and the reviewers.
I wont buy Heroes 5 or expansion packs until the players HERE tell me it works.
Game of the year? I think not.

Well,,, like i said its 1st version of the game .. and i'm sure there will be patch for multiplayer but still people enjoying playing single or hotseat i had all ever heroes (even for gameboy) i really like them all i think game could be GAME OF THE YEAR but they dont got alot of chances but for 90% i say they will be BEST strategy

well this being an online heroes community message board. I think 95% of the people here won't want to see heroes as game of the year.
as for bugs, sure every game has bugs, but heroes has enough for 2 games  you ever seen the website someone made listing all bugs found? its rather large. but the memory leak and skipping music is killer
I just hope they patch it ok, or Ive played my last h4 game.. about a week ago lol

Well I think the gameplay is horrid but I have never had a slowdown or skipping music.
There is no way this is game of the year.
This is the best year for games since 1996.
Medal of Honor or Ghost Recon get my vote.
I don't care if they don't fall in the strategy genre or not.
At least they are complete, MP ready and bug free.
I don't think you can give game of the year to a company who fired the staff right after they released it.
They knew it was garbage when they RUSHED it out.
If they don't know how bad it is how's come they have never released a demo for it?
They don't want people to see it before they buy it because if they did they wouldn't buy it.

Yeah here lately been playing everything.
For the past 6 yrs I had huge piles of games that I never played thanks to heroes.
But now I have more free time due to the lack of MP for h4 so I been playing every new game to come out.
Dungeon Siege is a lot of fun too..and the new spiderman game is fun I think.

Just Wait
We have Morrowind out in 2 days, Neverwinter Nights estimated for the end of June, Warcraft 3 estimated for the end of June.
HOMM4 as GOTY, certainly not, not even close, too many problems with it.
This is going to be a great gaming year, and the best are yet to come.

Probably not even strategy
I doubt it will be strategy game of the year either. As much as it hurts to say it, the demo for Age of Wonders 2 is a more complete game than HOMM4 is.
3DO shot themselves in the foot with this release, I won't even mention the joke that is masquerading as a new Might and Magic game, it's even worse.

Game of the Year?
The game had certainly the potential to compete for the title considering the success of the franchise but 3DO made some big mistakes that not only minimize the chances of this game being named the game of the year, it has even jeopardized the future of the HoMM-franchize. Although there are several reasons why HoMM4 wont be able to compete for the title, it should suffice to mention only this one:
The game is so buggy that they had to release a 16 MB patch just to make it playable...
