AI on custom map

Hello everyone, I'm new here, my English is well ... not so good so please consider this when you read my post.

Since very long time I creating maps just for myself just for fun. Those maps are dumb in every way. Need example ? what about Pandora box which contains 1 gold and 1 crystal being guarded by 4000 Azure Dragons

Some time ago i decided to create a map for 1 Player and 5 CPU's - using 48 of cities ( maxed ) and 144 unit buildings across the map (also maxed). There is event that spawns 50 units of resources and 5000 gold each day for every player (both CPU and Human) since i did not place quarries and rest of resources stuff. Basically speaking i placed every single thing needed to play this map.

I set AI to be a WARRIOR style i read about them and most of topics were the same. Correct me if I'm wrong
Explorer - many armies - split strength
Warrior - is a middle setup
Builder - One big army with main hero


When i start the game CPU players are working fine for 5-10 turns then they just hide in their cities and does not even move. There are plenty of Dragons Utopia, Medusa Stores, Underground, Grail etc etc. I though since i choosed Warrior as preset of CPU behavior i should expected this. And i played over 2 years ingame time i just spammed end turn to see whats going on. NOTHING CPU never made a move and yes they can reach me very easily - i checked the path...
I gave up decided to test the most basic map ever - square for those 4 players, each player in different corner of the map, same setup no resource points just units, monsters, artifacts. AI is moving trying to discover map then suddenly hide in city and building army ... forever.


I got GOG edition, HD mod installed, recently i installed SoD_SP plugin,

Someone had similar issues ?

Well, AI needs given steps, towns, mines, in order to expand. If there is nothing to do in the range he sees, he stops. Are you playing at 200% too?

AI doesn't come because it is horrified by the design of that map.

Now, seriously, how you would expect him to come when your hero has from first day all relics + one thousand dragons. AI sees no solution for that therefore it stops everything. It is not like human brain - > I build my power then I attack later. It calculates his chances early, see no solution, stops thinking.

Im trying to understand AI logic in situations like that.

AI has 5 players and 40 full build cities - there is event which adds every resource to every player in generous way
There is also event that adds 200/150/125/100/75/50/25 of every creature of every city to every player each month - that means it adds 8000 1st trier units to AI, into unit recruit buildings i mean, that's also means that event spawns  1000 creatures of 7th trier...

To Compensate that AI can have 40 Heroes with army i decided to spawn Hero with 700 dragons ( 100 of each type ). As long as AI worked i never stood a chance playing fair - not with my skills.

No, that event works only for your towns. You get all this stuff, nothing for AI.

Wait Im pretty sure that i checked that when created events


Does it means that i have to create similar events for every single AI player ?

I though that marking all players and marking "apply to every computer player" is enough

No, an event in a town works only for that town. When you check all players to be able to trigger the event in a town, it means every player who OWNS that town, not all towns of those players on the map.
