HOMM Mugen making (Fighting Game)
I would like to search for people interested in making an HOMM MUGEN game and HOMM MUGEN characters.
MUGEN is an arcade emulator for fighting games such as in the style of Mortal Combat, Street Fighter and King of Fighters.
MUGEN has extremely flexible code for character making which led people to make almost everything in MUGEN form, from Zelda characters to Metal Gear. As long as you have or can make 2D vertical sprites of something, it can be made into a MUGEN character.
The list of MUGEN characters made reachs into the high thousands, you can see (and download) some here, divided into hundreds of categories:
https://mugenarchive.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=1-characters
Some make their own full MUGEN games from a franchise, such as this, of Metal Slug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf5nmlI7zBI
There is a 24 hs MUGEN video stream with bets and thousands of characters in this website (also on Twitch):
https://www.saltybet.com/
WHat I was thinking is on using the Heroes 3 Sprites to begin with and make MUGEN characters out of them. They could be submitted to Saltybet and online repositories so it woudn't be necessary for a full game to be finished to start seeing our creations fight. I can do some basic coding in this regard as well as color palette editing. My idea is for people which have also coding and graphics experience to join.
Sprites are available as sheets online so it woudnt even be necessary to convert them. Sprites for Heroes 3 can be found here: https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/heroes3/ and here http://spritedatabase.net/game/2195
If ubisoft's remaster included larger sprites for H3 combat, these could be used as well.
Heroes 2 sprites can also be made into (smaller) characters and even join in the same game. Thousands of chars can be in the same rooster so this woudn't be a problem. Sprites for Heroes 2 can be found here:
https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/heroesofmightandmagic2/
So for example, you could have Black Dragon (H2), Black Dragon (H3) and Black Dragon (H3HD) as different characters.
You could make H3 Black Dragons and H3 Gold Dragons fight for supremacy, even as expectator between AI-controlled characters, and see which creature is best. (well, at least which has the best AI and character file and stats :V). Of course, Heroes can also be made and even cast spells in combat [but not much more without making extra animations since this is their only combat anim in the game, hah... though, the real memes would be the Ballista and Catapult character. Healing tent and ammo cart, anyone?]
Might and Magic RPG series sprites could also be used as more traditional-looking characters. It's backgrounds would make great stage backdrops if converted to 2D when necessary. The "movie backgrounds" could be made into animations. "Stages" act as backdrops to character combat.
A battle scene from Might and Magic VIII that shows mugen-like graphics
If there is interest in the project, I can create some image mockups as concept art to see where the project could head and how the finished product could look, since maybe imagining it isn't easy for some.
What do you think?

A pretty unique mechanic I thought about is that Heroes 3 greatures could become "angry". Normally fights are to the best of three.
If an Air Elemental would lose a match, it would become a Storm Elemental. And the same with all upgrades.
In this way, perhaps a Basilisk could defeat a Vampire, but the Vampire would become a Vampire Lord in match two, while Basilisk would remain the same. When Vampire Lord defeats Basilisk, the record will be 1 to 1, meaning they go to the third fight. In this fight, since the Basilisk was defeated, he would become the Greater Basilisk for this final round. This will keep battles very entertaining as a game of "one upmanship". The logic is fully programmable since some game bosses already work like this.
In the case of neutral creatures without upgrades, some may be improvised (Gold Golems to Diamond Golems, for example) and others taken from miscellaneus sources (Such as WoG or other mods)

Fresh idea. I would love to see a game where you can chose any Heroes unit and get into action .
Besides Might and Magic VIII - Day of the Destroyer is pretty much in my top 10 fav games .
