The Last Skywalker Discussion (Spoilers Inside)

Well, it was indeed a dumb movie. I won’t say it is the worst movie because there was almost zero advancement of the plot in The Last Jedi, so they basically had 2 movies in order to complete a trilogy and I can’t blame Jar Jar Abrams for that. The Last Jedi is still definitely the worst in my opinion. I also credit the movie that it brought everything to a conclusion so that any new movies or shows can start fresh and detached from the trainwreck of the previous movies.

The way there were so many characters thrown into the plot and scenes transitioned so quickly reminded me a lot of the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean, except it was even worse. It was like 100 people getting smashed into a bus that can carry 50 and then heading to their destination with the gas pedal pressed to the floor and children and old people screaming in terror as the tires squealed around each corner.

Still, the trilogy is finally over and out of its misery. It’s really sad that EA games can make a vastly better, more authentic, and cohesive story with their recent game Fallen Order than a mega media company like Disney. I suppose if there is a promising future for Star Wars there can now be fresh start with fresh faces and hopefully using nostalgia as a carrot will be done and over with.

Maybe Disney's whole point wasn't to make decent Star Wars movies; but to cash in on the franchise and to push leftist propaganda, solely? It sure seems that way, in retrospect...

What were the parts that seemed like leftist propaganda to you?

---

There were some things I liked. I thought they did a really good job with Kylo Ren. The scene with him and Han Solo made me teary eyed, as did the ending when he healed Rey.

The movies really, really badly needed to have a single artistic vision at the helm. It feels like The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker are two parts of a movie and The Last Jedi is a tumor or skintag growing on the side.

Yup. Thanks to Rian J. we got this movie (TLJ) in the middle of the sequel trilogy that's by far the worst.

And... love or hate the prequels, at least they felt like one large story.

Before we even knew any details I was hoping they'd leave out the old characters and focus on new faces and places, make this a new experience. In the end they mostly ruined the old characters and then they ended up using them for nostalgia.

You think people would complain if the old actors were not part of the story?

I didn't have a problem with having the original characters in the story but I assumed they would be background figures or take on a commanding role (like a general or diplomat or teacher) while new characters did the adventuring and gun-slinging and whatnot and took up most of the screen time.

It seems they brought them back just so they could execute them like cattle to make it dramatic. Pretty stupid.

Let the past die. Kill it if you must. (Embrace it back if things go wrong.)

I heard they were remaking kotor which for a moment made me excited. Then I read that it would bridge kotor with the new canon. Sigh.

Good lord, just do something original that doesn't suck. I'm sure many would like an old republic storyline, especially with the current storyline being a dead end. But I genuinely liked the diverse worlds of the kotor games. Just fire Kathleen Kennedy and the rest will follow.

I thought it got pretty tedious. By the end of it I was glad to say goodbye to Star Wars (for now). Since the Disney reincarnation, I'd say the standalones were far better than 7-9.

Agreed. They could have focussed much more on the nature of the Force in the concluding trilogy and uncover aspects of it that as of yet had remained out of sight, adding both peril and opportunity. A pity that they went the blast-'m-all way. Especially VIII was pretty bad at that.

Seriously? They add crap that completely kills the previous films, these guys are nowhere near the competency required for this.
