How would you rank hero classes?
From the best to the worst?

That's a pretty hard question. For instance, Wizard's primary skill distribution after level 10 is better then Witches but Solmyr is the best wizard and he sucks while Fortress has Navigation, Sorcery and Intelligence specialists between their magic crew... Are Barbarians better then Death Nights? Depends on how many weak and numerous stacks you will find early in game.
Best class: Death Nights with Cloak.

Hmm Barbarians, Battle Mages, Beastmasters, Overlords and Demoniacs are pretty good, Witches and Druids not so much.

Best hero class is Battle Mage
Best Magic Class is between Warlock, Wizard and Witches(they get high power like Warlocks)
Best Might Class Overlord, Ranger, Barbarian and Cove Captain

Best magic class: warlock – best stat distribution (spell power is arguably better than knowledge and they even get mana vortex, so they get more spell points than the other magic classes anyway). They get decente specialties: Malekith can be a total beast late game, provided he gets there, meteor shower and ressurrection are good too, although the former is better.
Best magic hero: that is a different question. While some classes suck, they got nice heroes. I think Luna, the elementalist, is such a hero. She can wreck the early game, paving the way for her late, meaning that she can actually be a more powerful spellcaster than Malekith, for example. Solmyr is good too, but Chain Lightning is way too expensive and, besides that, Wizards, from level 10 onwards, are more likely to get attack skill than spell power (which did not happen in Heroes II, where the class debuted) and their special buildings are not great: lookout tower is beyond pathetic and library is not that great anymore, since you can research spells (a feature I love, by the way), maybe if it reduced the cost of spell research by half...
Witches don’t even have access to mage guild levels 4 and 5, so they are out of the competition.
Best Might class: barbarian. Best Might hero: Crag Hack.

And Kyrre is looking at both and thinking: why the hell am I going to wait? I'm already at level 74 and all my prims are at 99, let's beat the crap of these two while they are below level 20.

Logisticians aside, would you agree with me that Luna is the strongest magic hero?

I completely agree with your analysis but won't draw the same conclusion.
Is Luna extremely good very early game? Yes, she is. Is she the best magic hero in the long run? Just try "Conquest of Heaven and Hell" and before the end of the first month you will know your answer.
Of course, custom maps are quite circumstantial but on a random Luna has Ciele and Monere as back-up artists while Elleshar has Kyrre, Mephala and Thorgrim...

Isnt this offtopic? Becuz he was asking about class not about specific hero?
I guess OP can clarify that. Id say the question best hero more important than best class.
But to answer OP Question as it is, id say
overall rating is
Dk, Planeswalker,Captain, Barbs, BM,
Demoniacs, and then comes the rest.
The reason id prefer them over barbs is that they can learn water magic. Barbs are great but no water magic
Pw > captain because they can logistics better.
Overlords are second tier barbs. Almost exactly the same, just a little worse on everything.

Kyrre, Mephala, Gelu, Ivor, Ryland, Thorgrim/Giselle, (Jenova's +350?) | & Druid: Elleshar
Probably the town with the most of useful Heroes to pick from, Rangers being the dominant class for me in the overall of the game.

My subjective ranking would be;
1) Log Heroes (except Dessa)
2) Dessa
3) Offense Heroes (except Neela)
4) Armorer Heroes
5) Barbarians
6) Overlords
7) Neela
etc...

I never knew dessa is a full hero class
jokes aside: in that case, the starting SS will play significant role on determining whos the best hero (regardless of class)

Yes,
at about lvl 44 in default armorer.
but if there is armorer script 20% reduction, it will be at level 13 or something.

In Heroes III classes are very similiar. Only difference is mage vs warrior.
Ofcourse necro heroes are overpowered especially with cloak of the undead king.
Most important is hero specialty eg. Gelu Dracon, heroes with logistics specialty. Sir Mullich. Or powerfull spell.

thats more or less correct. However, you can also divide might heroes into 2: Defense (BM, ranger) or offense (other heroes)

Yes but unhapilly random skill generator for each class is not so different. Additionaly a lot of skill points you take from map powerups which are of the same for all hero. To the more class devastation artifacts give a lot skill points too! The same for each class! So you finally have eg att/def 20 25 or 25 20 for defense/ofense hero. It gives small difference because 1 skill point is 5% or 2.5% more. Its only 40% difference. The same situation is in wisdom/power. Good class difference should give att/def 5 to 40!!! 35 points give 280%! difference! Its true class skill buliding. All heroes can learn all spell. Only wisdom is needed. So finally hero always is similiar. Only powerfull specialy gives another gameplay.

The most important thing is secondary skill distributions. That's why I put even the worst barbarian over neela because she will most likely end up with worse secondary skills than these barbarians.
