Elvin said: According to aninews, the previous danmachi ep shaved off 90% of the story. Including the descent to floor 20 that almost wiped Hestia's familia.
That explains a lot, it's all felt way too rushed past season 1.
Rushed in hindsight? I couldn't even tell, so if it's true then they did a really good job at hiding it. Probably the point was to have a smooth transition without loosing the focus on the Daedalus story. But for sure, the dungeon crawl was great in season 1, they should've stuck more with it.

I first got that feel during s2 but less so this season. But still, the main elements of s1 felt like they've been written out of the story for some time now.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou
The protagonist is seriously getting on my nerves. His behaviour is so pathetic, and it doesn't feel natural. It's like the script forced him to be scared becasue this is a horror mystery show...
I think I'm actually changing from being intrigued with the series to loathing it...

Why! Come on man, really?! All that tragedy was going great and then that miracle happened... They are sooooo afraid to firmly plant some consequences in the story, always trying to "save" it in the end. Such a missed opportunity, smh.

Yeah, like they would've killed off a cute monster waifu? In what kind of dellusional world do you live in Stevie
Bell isn't quite out of the pickle yet - that "this is my prey" rampage seems to have damaged his "good guy" reputation quite a bit. But taking all the cicrumstances into account, it was the best thing he could've have done at that moment, even if the "plot armor" was strong with this one.

Yeah, again. From a series that used tried and true tropes, but which still did it skillfully, it became a really generic shounen fare...
Btw, did anyone notice how lame Bell has become? I mean in season 1st they kinda played around the fact that he was low level, but had those moments of glory and it worked pretty well. But from this moment onward they use this level thing whenever they want to kick his ass (and that happens way to often). But the scaling is ridiciolous, like just becasue you're one level below a character it instantly means he will mop the floor with you (it seemingly makes something like "skill" meaningless in this setting). This whole "level" thing is one of the most idiotic and inqonsequent things in the entire series... and it doesn't help that the overall quality of the animation is on a constant downgrade since season 1 and monsters are 1-hit KO'ed, it's really underwhelming. I can't quite put it into words, but for me the Dungeon looked like a scary place in season 1, but now you don't feel any sense of danger for adventurers at all.

Finally finished Fruits Basket 2nd Season. It was good enough. I'll give it an 8/10, so same as the season before. Ended with a huge cliffhanger, maybe worth it for the surprise factor. It makes you rewind and see things in a different light than how they appeared at first, I'll give them that.

There's actually a point in the anime (S2 if I remember correctly?) when they spoil it already... well knowing the original I knew what was coming, but an observant viewer will put the pieces together...

It flew right over my head. I have to say I never considered it mostly because that sort of "twist" is not a game changer. It doesn't affect anything really, does it?
Meanwhile... after desperately searching a school / romance for about 5 minutes... I ended up with Kimi ni Todoke...
It's that shoujo switch again.
EDIT Ep. 1: Help! Regret.. OVERWHELMING!

Danmachi S3
Finally, a really solid entry, that both got me interested and invested. I also think the quality of animation went up a notch. And you simply feel the stakes went higher this time.
This is how this series should be at bare minimum: against odds, and the viewer caring for what the characters are doing, their predicaments and choices. So far this season had it's moments, but it was mostly this rude "pushing forward", from brawl to brawl.
But now they managed to truly spark my curiousity: on how well the plan of Hestia Famiglia and their allies will be realized.
PS: I've been meaning to ask for some time... but how does the friggin events of the series has to do with anything the title would suggest? Or is this whole ployjust Bell doing everything he can to bang Wiene at the end of the day?

I would be more invested if they did not have a ****ING INVISIBLE CLOAK. Like wtf have them take turns going into the dungeon and hand the cloak to someone that can freely enter and leave the dungeon so he can deliver to the next xenos.
Also, the Loki familia should instead have left the dungeon doors open whether as a trap or to have them leave without engadering the town. Cornered monsters will eventually surface and possibly attack and kill people and they can't be at every location at the same time.

Don't jump to conclusions yet. Notice how the series uses the "invisibility" or "shapeshift" trope many times (even Lily uses it sometimes). And we still don't know how they will use the cloaks. I don't remember them mentioning using it this way, maybe it doesn't even work on Xenos? Their plan states that they will push through one of the Dungeon entrances, the least protected one...
Seems Loki Famiglia is even more OP then it was depicted so far, Flinn is some kind of genius strategist it turns out, and he's already seen through some of their plans. I'm sure he also included the possibility of "Invisible Cloaks" in their plans...

Uhm, what? Every entrance is guarded for starters, there's no transit to the dungeon. And then I doubt that the cloak is as overpowered as you suggest. The idea that you could just put a cloak on and sneak through ranked adventurers would also make for a very weak plot line. I mean, you could then argue that anyone could put one on and backstab rank 6 adventurers and to hell with the entire story.

I don't really understand the actions of Loki familia, there's no way they can be this oblivious. Why are they guarding the doors even? Why assume monsters would want to go back to the dungeon? Makes no sense to me, but I'll just see where it goes. I agree with Blob2 that the tension is building up quite nicely and things are finally exciting. I really hope they don't screw up the next episode.

Yeah I wonder about it too... this whole plot to finish them off. But it seems the hate for monsters is deeply ingrained in the populace of Orario. I don't quite remember, but I think it was mentioned somewhere in season 1 even.

Probably the idea was that the monsters have a limited time before they are discovered and exterminated but if they escaped to the dungeon they'd be harder to track down. Probably..?
PS in the cut content there had been more monster attacks into Orario just before season 3 so citizen tension was on the rise and they were beginning to lose faith and trust in the guild.

It would, which is why I find such elements cheesy. I don't know if overpowered or if more cloaks like this exist but complete invisibility for moving one person at a time seems obvious. It's not like entrances would have people stationed every 2 meters, that'd be stupid.
