Non Non Biyori Repeat was great. This series is genius, but not recommended for all audiences. The seinen tag is appropriate. I can't imagine teenagers thirsty for action in every single scene watching this type of anime. It's just another level of understanding. Great slice of life and I'm comfortable giving it a 9/10.

Oh shoot...

I counted at 21 series this season I will at least give a go. It still can be trimmed down, but there are at least 10 series I will watch definately.

Yea, I think I counted about 10 as well, which means it's unrealistic to follow all of them. It's such a packed season. Can't remember the last time there was so much stuff to watch. I am a bit cautious though, I'm not expecting all of them to be great.

EDIT: I watched Akudama Drive, 7/10. It felt like an action flick with the "movie curse" attached to it. The sudden change from the serene pace of Non Non Biyori to this adrenaline packed shinkansen ride did not help either. I liked the premise, the setting, the visuals and animation, reason why I think it's all in all a good anime. But the plot? The over the top characters? How everything progressed? The ending? No way. I disliked it. Not fleshed out enough and hard to swallow. Guess that's the limit of original productions. I'll be more wary next time since they don't seem to click with me.

Today's the day! I can't effin' wait! Wonder if it will be available in the same timeframe (rip HS, it always was on schedule there).

Btw gave Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shounen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Youna Monogatari a go. Aside from idiotically long title and pretty generic fantasy setting (seems it's not actually an isekai btw), it's a pretty interesting twist on the usual "hero advances through levels" trope becasue... our protagonist, although called the weakest in his village, actually comes from a place that is the "final stop" before the "final dungeon". As you might've guessed, although he doesn't ofc realize it, he is crazy strong from the get-go. That makes for some comical situations and interactions.

Plus it's animated pretty nicely so it might be a solid 6 or 7/10 series.

As they say: "zhe plot thickenz!".

Ofc we're left with more questions then answers, it wouldn't be Re: Zero without it I guess...

The thing with Puck was kind of a shocker though, and Subaru was def doing some preperations in the veil of night later on seeing that he was covered in dirt all over in the last scene. There's some kind of complicated working behind Emilia's back to achieve his goals. I wonder what it's about and where it will leave him in the end, Emilia might be left angry with him for all the shenenigans his doing in the background.

Solid episode. Imagine if last season ended on this note instead of that crybaby Subaru.

But anyway, right now I'm just laughing my ass off at the trolls on MAL, 7.63 score by 570 users. The bot probably overloaded and crashed. And those reviews, lol.

Hortensia Saga

Pretty generic fantasy it seems, probably in the 6-7/10 range, but the fact that it is not isekai, but a classic type of fantasy makes it stand out in this day and age. It feels like those TBS/RPG's of old: warring nations, insurrections, armed conflicts. You know, Fire Emblem style. First episode is a typical "entrance" episode: world is introduced, "beefs" are being set-up etc.

Plus, if you're 40s in an anime, and the antagonist turns into a huge (and drawn the way I like) Werewolf then I'm instantly interested

I'll follow the second season of Promised Neverland, which makes it 3. Oh, wait, actually 4 with Jujutsu Kaisen. No, wait, it's 5 with RWBY too. So basically Attack on Titan, Re:Zero and Promised Neverland from this season, and Jujustsu Kaisen and RWBY from last season. I think that's good enough.

In the meantime, I'll probably binge some series as much as time allows. Beastars has been on my mind, but so have been No Game No Life and Tokyo Ghoul. Some colleague insisted Tokyo Ghoul is actually great, having bought the light novels and figurines. I'm quite reluctant to try it, doesn't sound all that great to me.

There's also some oldies like Cowboy Bebop, which I still haven't seen. Mushishi and Natsume Yuujinchou seem like they require a lot of time investment, having multiple seasons. Dropping some names right now for when I return to this post, maybe someone follows up with a good recommendation.

People have been hatin' on PN lately, but I found the first episode of S2 pretty solid (although imo they added a lot more cgi). Heard the manga is a dumpsterfire, but I only have a general idea of how it ends.

Beastars is a solid series, even if the cgi might be off-putting at times (there are some traditional drawn sequences and imo they look a lot better on those rare occasions). Also some people might find it bothersome that it's generally furry and there are even some sex scenes...

Bebop is a must although I don't know how it holds after so many years. But guess well-written stories will always age nicely, and the animation was top notch for it's time so it'll also work now I think. They don't make this kind of exceptional character animation anymore, maybe other then in some high-budget cinematic flicks. Just be prepared that some episodes can have surprising tone shifts between them: from dark and gritty mafia stories to silly "alien invasions" or a comedy of errors type of episodes.

To tell you the truth I didn't watch Mushishi which is probably a sin, but at the time it was popular I wasn't into "tranquil and philosophical" experiences in anime. I eventually will need to watch it. The way I am now, I would probably really enjoy it.

Natsume is also a cult classic and probably worth a watch but it never did quite charm me like some people use to brag about. But at this point it really is a tapeworm, and I believe it will get a new season soon.

Mushishi is not binge material, you start and watch at a comfortable pace. It's a different experience.

And Bebop is always good.

The manga is far superior to the adaptation, mostly because the anime cut out a lot of context. Too much context. Still, a few years back I found the first season quite atmospheric and enjoyable, albeit a bit edgy. The real issue though is the second season which for some reason deviated from the source material and so was a total mess. And then come the third and fourth seasons which again adhere to the manga. Good luck understanding character motivations and what the heck is going on in general without having done some reading.

I'd recommend either checking the first season out and then reading the manga or simply doing the latter straight away. The anime has pretty sick fight scenes, so check those out if you become a fan.

The main strengths of the series lie in its world buildig and sense of suspence and mystery. Oh, and the above average art. Still, the edge sometimes gets quite heavy, but at the time of my viewing I don't recall any high level facepalming on my part, so you're not likely to encounter Sasuke tier cringe.

I haven't seen Beastars yet but can't wait for it to finish so that the studio might make the continuation to Land of the Lustrous.

Bebop is an episodic show so you needn't to binge it. But putting it on hold on episode 10 is no way to do things either, all the more so when it matches your preferred space aesthetic. But, alas, I am a procrastinator through and through.

So guys, any idea why in Re: Zero:

Spoilers
Puck broke the contract? Is it because Emilia needed access to her blocked memories in order to pass the trial or is there something else at play here? How can she be emotionally stable if she has so many hard hitters at once. She reacted really emotionally for Pucks decision (saying how alone she is, kinda "friend-zoning" Subaru here XD). Yeah, Subaru has it worse usually, but he is made from an entirely different clay...

And what is Subaru's plan here, he did catch Roswaal of guard but we see that through the entire episode he is still gathering information. I wonder how he will actually execute his plan...
Spoilers end

Btw Subaru can be pretty observative and cheeky, like when he asked Roswaal to bring back his "clown makeup" to better fit into their roles in all of this

Spoilers?
I think he's going to try and lift the Sanctuary's barrier first and foremost, then he'll move on to the mansion. He might also go straight there and leave the Sanctuary to Otto, Garfiel(d?) and Emilia. I don't recall some details from cour one, but I'd say he's either going to help Emilia pass the trials or he'll use Ryuzu in some way to cheese the system.
Spoilers end

Meh, I think higurashi dropped the ball. It's like they conveniently forgot who was responsible for the loops, making them endless and they had to introduce a different limitation. Unless there is a solid explanation which I am unaware of, this is plain stupid. The more I see, the more convinced I am that anyone should start with the original. I remember the author recommended starting with this and that honestly makes no sense to me. Too much is revealed too quickly and while you don't NEED to watch the original to understand, you can't fully appreciate the changes in the loops.

That aside, it seems this will be resolved within 5 loops. Interestingly, we didn't see what happened to Tomitake and Takano during this watanagashi. Also Ooishi. This never happened within 100 years' worth of loops so I doubt it was just a rare event. We are steadily moving into new territory.

Shingeki no Kyojin is ending in 3 chapters.

Manga Spoilers
I still have no clue where the story is going. Will it go for a cliche? Will it go for the unexpected? Will it go for the even more unexpected and revert to a cliche? Will these final few chapters sink the stupid ships that have been sailing to and fro in the toxic fandom once and for all? Only time will tell.
Spoiler end

Settled for Yuru Camp. Falls into the same category as Non Non. This take on slice of life without the drama is right down my alley.

EDIT: Attack on Titan ep 5.
