Imagine letting the mob elect a cabal of people with previous social standing and then letting them elect someone that is supposed to be above politics to act as a judge, the idea of a parliamentarian republic is flawed and destined to die off in widespread unrest.
There are two ways it can go, it's either like the US or France, where the president is elected by the people, in which case the candidates have to play party politics, and once in power must continue doing so.
Or you go like Italy, where the president of the republic is elected by the parliament... which leads to candidates that are leaning towards the current majority's ideology, and who'll never forget who put them there.
To have a real above party politics impartial coordinator you need a king. Someone who doesn't have to answer to no one to obtain this power, and is trained all his life to work for his property, the state.
The figure of the monarch isn't antithetical to democracy, it actually empowers it and allows it to go on without hindrances, the king doesn't have to accept any imposition to roles of government for example, the king can reject unjust or ineffective laws, the king can reject incompetent people to the ministries and so on.
A king would have never allowed the current government to form here in Italy, neither would he have let himself be clouded by petty party politics when the previous government was formed.
Kings are inherently superior, deal with it peasants.
And yes I'm still mad that both the Hauteville and Hohenstaufen families are extinct.

I guess it depends on the king, in the end. ^_^ I usually don't get into political analysis because in my country is a blur, and everyone is a SJ telling that this is democracy, the the other say it is dictatorship, then it's fascism, etc. I am concluding it's a cocktail of bullsheet.

He's a false count. I've never seen him in our gatherings before, and he doesn't proudly wear a szabla(it's a type of a saber) to show off his noble status.

The High Nobility has had to deal with the bullsnow of monarchs for far too long. Good kings are harder to come by than good women and are more prone to inbreeding than Amazon Indians. On top of that, it's so cumbersome to remove a poor sovereign, because 'regicide' is apparently sacrilegious! The audacity! AI are much easier to manage and make for the perfect scapegoat when things aren't going well, since everyone is so afraid of them. The only issue with utilizing AI is that most good experts in the field lack any sort of morality, common sense and empathy.
