Notice anything strange in that picture?
Both sides are red!
If you put a trigger in an army in "encountered" that makes the army change owner to the player, you will fight...
and control both sides!
Choose who will win? (strategy)
Or maybe, fight berserk creatures? (flavor)
Your choice, but I think some interesting new gameplay options are at stake here, since you NEED to resolve the combat. So you can, for example, try to decide which creatures to keep - in mortal combat...
Also, this prevents the stacks from splitting (even in Equilibris and derived like Greatest Mod, in theory), so it can be used to have different combat dinamics - like fighting a single, undivided enemy stack, or controlling precisely which are which, since the army will not rearrange from your map setting... (tested on "random creature" for now, tho)

We actually planned to use this little trick in the Unity campaign. I guess we forgot to actually mention it to others, haha. Definitely a neat little scripting trick.

Maybe you wanted to keep it as a "surprise" and forgot later when it was indefinitely suspended.

Haha could be, though I can say Unity is no longer indefinitely suspended finishing up text summaries for the third map (out of 5).

Well, good job. However one cannot trust "secret developments" in any case, look at what happened to equilibris code.
I just hope batch PNG export/import and Mass Spells plugin aren't indefinitely suspended either

Yeah, definitely unfortunate, but it seems like the way Equilbris did things might not have been the best way, but it could still be useful to see where the edits were made and whatnot.
I've been taking a look at fixing some bugs and the new features for the resource editor, so some forward movement there.

Thought this was old news.. used it in my 5th map in my campaign, and that's.. oh I dont even wanna count how many years ago.. so really nothing secret about it, but there are scripts libraries and also tons of cool and useful scripts that just hasnt been posted.
I guess it could make sense to compile some of these for the H4MG sceipt library.. sigh.. would have to go through and extract a bunch of scripts, question is really though if the amount of active map makers really justify the amount of time it would take to compile..
In fact there's several way to do this change. Before/after combat, upon encounter, wanting to fight yourself, want the enemy to change, but dont fight, just turn to your side etc.. I tested various combinations and results years ago. Should still have a test map for it..

Yeah you could always just send me the maps and tell me which scripts you want included.
I was thinking about the scripting library the other day. We should still do that

Well, if it doesn't get published, it's still pretty "secret" if only because of ignorance. How many people play every map/author? Certainly with the time modding takes, I don't have much H4 time left to try custom maps... just to read the forum and discords is pretty full time. In fact I haven't read my own thread in at least two days
But I encourage people to post and document as much as possible. Documented here > lost in a map from many years ago.
