Custom Mod
I really like the original game (complete version) as it is. But I had some ideas how I want to see the game get expanded. I know many members of this community are experts in modding this game. I would be happy to compensate you for your work.
Below I will list the kind of custom Heroes III game I would like to play. Let me know if you are interested in helping me or whether you have suggestions how to do this in currently existing mods.
---
Castle:
a) Has an 8th building called "Hovel", it recruits peasants per week at the base rate of 50 per week. Peasants are level-one creatures which cannot be upgraded.
b) Arch-Angles health increased to 300 hp. Can resurrect twice.
c) Royal Griffins can only retaliate one extra time, not unlimited.
Rampart:
a) Has an 8th building called "Magic Lantern", it recruits pixies per week at the base rate of 30 per week. It can be upgraded to a sprite. This is a level-one creature.
b) Homestead building can be upgraded to "Treetop Tower", which upgrades Grand Elves to Sharpshooters. This is a level-three creature.
Tower:
a) Workshop can be upgraded to "Thatched Hut", it recruits halflings at a base rate of 30 per week. This is a level-one creature.
b) Golem factory has a total of four upgrade paths, from stone, iron, gold, and diamond golems. However, any upgrade from iron to gold/diamond golem will upgrade iron golems by their properly scaled HP and diminish the numbers after the upgrade. Diamond golems are now a level-six creatures but with a smaller growth rate.
c) Mage Tower can now be further upgraded to recruit Enchanters. Any mage upgraded will have his upgrade numbers cut in half and Enchanters grow at half-the-rate per week.
Stronghold:
a) Hobgoblins now have a third upgrade to Boars. Any upgrade from Hobgoblins will scale with Boars HP. The growth rate of Boars will also reduce down to a base rate of 8 per week.
b) Wolf Raiders now have a third upgrade to Nomads. Any upgrade will scale with HP. Nomads base growth rate will be set at 8 per week and they are considered to be level-three units.
c) There is an 8th building called "Rogue Cavern" which recruits Rogues as level-two units at a base growth of 8 per week. They have no upgrade path.
d) Wall of Valhalla now gives +2 Attack per hero.
Fortress:
a) There is a 8th building called "Troll Bridge" which recruits trolls at a base rate of 4 per week. They have no upgrade path. They are considered to be level-five units.
b) Chaos Hydra has unlimited number of retaliations.
c) Cage of Warriors now gives +2 Defense per hero.
d) Defensive Towers under siege do double-damage.
e) Every hero starts with Armorer.
Necropolis:
a) Skeletons cannot be upgraded. There are no skeleton warriors.
b) Skeleton transformer can transform any level-7 creature into a bone dragon.
c) Zombies have a third upgrade path to Mummies.
d) Ghost Dragons has 100% aging effect on strike. Ghost Dragons entirely remove moral bonus from all combat.
Inferno:
a) Every hero starts with Fire Magic and spell book.
b) Imps/Familiar's base growth rate increased to 30 per week. Familiar's channel 1/3 of all mana.
c) Magogs do area damage but do not damage friendly units.
d) Pit Lords can summon twice.
e) At level 5 mage guild always includes Sacrifice spell. The sacrifice spell now leaves the dead stack on the battlefield allowing pit lords to summon demons from that stack.
f) Demons can no longer be upgraded. Instead they just receive +1 speed.
g) Arch-Devils entirely eliminate all luck from opposing team. Any stack hit by Arch-Devils becomes cursed.
e) City Hall provided 2500 gold per day. Capitol provides 5000 gold per day.
Dungeon:
a) Battle Scholar Academy now gives +2500 Experience.
b) Resource Silo gives +1 of each rare resource per day and +2 of wood/stone per day.
c) Mana Vortex triggers each week for each hero.
d) Portal of Summoning can be used to summon any unit, from anywhere, as long as the dwelling is flagged.
e) Dragon cave can be upgraded for a 3rd time allowing the player to upgrade Black dragons into Azure dragons. It will require 4 black dragons to upgrade into one Azure. There is no growth rate of Azure dragons and they can only be upgraded from Black dragons.
Conflux:
I am not a fan of this town. It feels too forced. None of the units are any interesting other than the Phoenix. I do not have any ideas where to put the Phoenix. But I would like to see Conflux be removed, or at least, the option to disable them from appearing.

For which platform do you plan to add these changes?
A couple of them are really very easy to do with simple ERM commands if you plan to use ERA 3. Some already exist to use, like Magogs do not damage their own troops.

I like a) ideas regarding invitation of neutrals, make sense and very consistent. But how one is supposed to add a building if there is no free room left for it in village/town/city hall dialogue? Will such dwellings be always built from start? Or do you plan to redesign the original dialogue window? Another question is how to place those dwellings on a city screen for them to not look alien. This is the most complicated part of your mod, I think.
Other ideas are relatively easy to implement via plugins. Some of them can even be done in 10-30 minutes.

Just the base game and compatible with the HD mod. There is tab in the HD mod which says "plugin", so I imagine that is what it is there for.

Yes, that does seem like the most complicated part of the mod, since it requires something new. But basically a redesign of the town center. You make a good point to possible rename the dwellings so they remain consistent. So this part of the mod will require some artwork.

Isn't that what it currently does anyway? I mean you can flag neutral dwellings too, and the POS will recruit those units. Did you mean perhaps that even if the other players have flagged the dwelling, then you can recruit those as well?

Well in that case I am out of the business.
My recommendations would be to work on ERA because it is a platform explicit design to write and create mods for. It has propper documentation and you can use other mods to start learning and have hundreds of ready-made scripts.
If you want to stick with plugins and base SoD there are only two or three people here who could teach you anything.
Usually, no one will implement the changes you suggested, these times are long gone. You mostly will have to do it on your own and get some help on the way.
As for the new buildings, as Alex already mentioned, it is difficult to do anything in the town screen with new graphics. It is easier to open new windows on any click event and create a new window which somehow enables you to build new stuff. This is probably as good as it gets.

Many mods have made new buildings to recruit creatures. What he asks for is not very strange. Changing the construction dialogs is not that hard either.
A third/fourth upgrade doesn't need a new button layout, it just appears in place after the previous one is done, too.
(though mostly would be done with ERA)
What I think this person is asking here is to PAY someone to do his changes.
I for one think most of these thanges are pretty terrible (with a few exceptions). I mean upgrading gremlins into halflings... pls. Some creatures with 3/4 upgrades, others zero. That's inconsistent.
But it is a lie that they cannot be done by a dedicated modder.
And I don't think he minds to do them with or without ERA, as long as the ERA in question is properly de-wogified.

Not to upgrade, this is indeed nonsense, but to settle them in their native town. If your are familiar with HoMM 2, you will understand, why Peasants belong to Castle, Sprites to Rampart, and Halflings to Tower.

I think it's fair. But also I think it's fair to designate in advance how much you can pay to turn your ideas into reality. Modders are not in the big industry, which can allow itself to sell their games for, say, 50 bucks. They can sell games for $50, because they know that their games will be bought by thousands - if not millions of people. For a single modder plus-minus 50 bucks are nothing at all. You either work for free, because you just enjoy your work and know how to do it properly, or you just skip such "lucky opportunities", because you understand that the other side hardly provide you with decent amount of money for your work. Just random thoughts of a modder

Well Pixies and Sprites will collide, if they are both in Rampart and Conflux, unless you put something else in Pixie slot in Conflux town.

Yes, that is correct. I want to pay someone to do these changes for me. This community has a lot of experienced modders. I can pay in advanced for what they think is fair. Then the modder's work will simply become a public release on this forum for anyone else willing to play around with the custom game. I am also willing to pay in advance.

If these neutral creatures were to be put in towns, they would also need a native terrain. Anyone knows how to do that?
An alternative would be to give all neutral creatures +1 attack, +1 defense and +1 speed, I suppose.

Everyone else on the forum, please post your ideas/suggestions, to restructure each of the original factions (possibly eliminating Conflux). If we get this mod done successfully then it will be a release on this forum for everyone to enjoy.
How would you feel if Rampart lost gold dragons but instead got Firebird/Phoenix at double growth rate (but slower speed than original Phoenix).
